brief points in conversation -
- we found a way to induce CD73
- has to be I/V
-When T given at time of Ischemia ( ie when shutting off circulation) - then primates limbs were fine afterwards , not so when no T given . I'm not a huge fan of primate trials , but I guess in some situations , it has to be done .
- Very hard to run a clinical trial in this situation - ie trauma / emergency / time scales - so they will perhaps go to FDA with data - and try for approval with even just animal data. Interesting - particularly since it is the DofD that will be talking to the FDA ( should have some bearing - ie its own Govt Military )

Faron Pharmaceuticals’ Traumakine data shows promise for military

Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd says data from its preclinical salvage, preservation, and advanced resuscitation through endothelial stabilization (SPARES) study was presented at the Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) in Orlando, Florida.

The SPARES study was a preclinical study, conducted on non-human primates (a representative model for humans), to understand the potential effects of Traumakine, Faron’s investigational intravenous interferon beta-1a therapy, on limb salvage and preventing multiple organ dysfunction in prolonged field care scenarios where blood flow to a significantly wounded limb is closed for rescue and transportation.

Nice , lets hope things just start building momentum from here onwards.

Great move in my opinion too . Took some more shares today on the back of it . Smacks of confidence in both divisions , and some good long term planning .

Not sure this is a boom RNS CB , but shows that they really will have a robust case when meeting with FDA .
Once Pivot trial terms are agreed , perhaps then we get the juicy collaboration RNS .
Who knows what the meetings may throw up .
So many opportunities - but who funds them - that's still the question .
All they need its one breakthrough onto the market , such as Bexmab , and they'll have a cash cow to fund everything else .

In the near future , if you were a melanoma cancer sufferer , with low baseline IFN y - why would you not be demanding to be treated with Bex ?
You would have thought that this data will be of huge interest at the Melanoma Research Congress meeting today .

These data, together with our biomarker analysis, reinforce bexmarilimab's unique proposition- MLF

Finally , people may start to wake up that the results Bex has been getting aren't the real aim anymore .
It's what it does to the tumours ( switching them from cold to hot) , so that existing drugs can be effective.

The fact that Bex has been showing efficacy on its own is amazing anyway , but they are only starting to scratch the surface of its capabilities in combination .

Thats why I think we have had this delayed SSV and funding rounds to keep the ownership of Bex 100% until its true value can be realised.

Still building 'team' in US . I wonder who or what they will be hiring next - and to what end .

All this activity is bullish - commercial manufacturing also . BEXCOMBO initiation . BEXMAB expansion ( US ?)

I'd be more glum if they were just trying to keep the lights on and waiting for some data - but they really are behaving like they are on a mission here .

Just occurred to me that they also have financing available from IPF partners . 5 million euros ( based on Faron raising 15 million in equity by March 2023 . They raised 5 in June , plus this 8 - so 13 . Plus they have treasury shares which could sort that total . Also FDA approval for pivotal trial required . Then another 15 million that could be available after that - upon discussion with IPF .

So possibly there is another 20 million euro available after Q1 2023 - dependent on hitting the requirements .

This placing should comfortably get them to that point ( i guess ) , whilst allowing them to keep the pedal to the floor with Bex .

8 million euros more , to go on top of the 9 million they had in June .
Let's say that gives them 15-16m euros in the bank now .
This is expected to see them further into Q1 2023 ( their words)

So they just bought themselves enough time to see Bexmab data published , FDA pivotal meetings done , and Matins P2 packages completed .
Monies to help accelerate the already accelerated program , and importantly - manufacturing .

Thoughts ?
First thoughts were - I thought we'd seen the end of these ' get us through the next 2 quarters ' placings .
Followed by - When the hell are they ever going to sign a deal ?

But then - you have to look on the positive side .
1.) Given they achieve it - then in an incredibly hard market , they can still raise nearly 10 million euros.
Although we'll see at what price discount . And for those with spare cash - it may be a window for adding at a discount too .
2.) You don't get 8 million euros for on a punt . Markku is not a fly by seat of his pants CEO . And he doesn't dilute unnecessarily . They could have sat back and waited for some limited Bexmab data , done the FDA meetings and then gone to market . But they are pushing to accelerate this program again . Build up US side - manufacturing - and so forth .
That would be a risky strategy if they didn't see a positive outcome .

This could just be a combination of buffering the finances to see them through this pivotal Q4 , so that when FDA meetings are done , they aren't totally skint , and have the luxury of not having to take first offer on the table ( should there be one ) , along with allowing San Antonio and Boston to kick on and prepare for expansion , and also in boosting their manufacturing so that Bex will be ready to hit the ground running ( Bexmab ?)

All going well , we will get an interview , and see where this has come from .

One of the trials that has gone under the radar is the planned Bexlung trial - sponsored by The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio with Faron as collaborator .

Open label 1b trial

This study enrolls patients with Non-small cell lung cancer and treats them with the investigational drug Bexmarilimab (FP-1305) plus standard of care Pembrolizumab to block Common lymphatic endothelial and vascular endothelial receptor-1 (CLEVER-1). Treating with an antiCLEVER-1 antibody, such as bexmarilimab, could lead to immune system activation, which, in turn, may lead to cancer elimination.

Pembrolizumab is Keytruda .

Dosing is in 4 cohorts , starting with 0.1-1mg , going up through the usual 3,10,and 30 mg .

Should be interesting as Lung cancer wasn't on the Matins trial .
And here we are treating patients perhaps with slightly more intact immune systems that what we have had so far .

Not sure it was intentional , but did Markku just drop an F bomb in the middle of that presentation ?

In all seriousness though , you really do need to be a biochemist familiar to the subject to pick up his summary and understand it when the words are coming out so fast in a strange accent .
But I guess , the ones he was having meetings with , will be more clued up on the subject matter and its relevance.

I don't think at this point , where 10-15yrs work is coming to a time where deals and market approval are on the horizon , Markku is going to step back and not see this to the finish line .

But we are getting to the point where these 15 min presentations aren't long enough to really explain Bex . You could do 15 mins on just the biomarkers .

And you can sense the frustration in his voice - that the world /markets are in turmoil , just at the point when his lifes work is coming to its time to shine . Its like spending 10 years building a boat , then the week of launch , hurricane Ian rolls in .
But like he said , despite the doom and gloom , there is still drastic need for this kind of drug , where PD1 is so ineffective on majority of patients , and where there is very little biomarker signalling to select patients .
Bex really does solve alot of these issues . And even more combis could be down the road , such as radiation therapy - as discussed here .
Interesting when he talked of dosing , that he says that despite dosing levels and frequency , max efficacy is achieved in 3-4 weeks whatever way it is administered , and that efficacy then stays with the patient .

He is very intense when talking of Bexmab - the 'surprise' - I feel his involvement here has become very personal , and he isn't hiding the confidence that he thinks they will achieve good results . With patients being dosed for 5 months now , on an open study , and with quick results being produced through blood samples ( I guess) , then he must be aware to some extent of how it's going ?

Anyway - good to see him in London , and making the most of his time .

4 meetings held that day already - with possible implications , and not just in UK . US side seems to offer better possibilities .

He final thoughts on podcast - ' personalised therapy ' - such an important factor , and big part of Farons work ( biomarkers etc) to make the treatments so much more useful for the selected patients.

They've given us some cracking updates , explained the timelines , and milestones to come .

Tomorrow we may get some more info . Not sure if this was planned to coincide with any news , but at least its an opportunity to give us a heads up on progress .

It's a hard time for small investors across the board at the moment . Doom and gloom have sucked the joy out of owning and following many of these small Mcap companies . Sinking share prices make you question what the hell you are doing sometimes , but like always , at these times I just take a step back and look at what the company is doing , and what there is to gain by holding on .

That keeps me here , as it forces me to look past simply what the share price is today .
