BoE's Alan Taylor warns of rising danger of 'bumpy landing' for UK economy.

The third scenario is the “hard landing”, which Taylor calls “a deeper worry”. He says:

"This was a remote and low probability event a year ago, but the risk is rising. In this scenario, weak demand at home can lead to a more forceful downturn, where recession dynamics start to kick in that can be very difficult to contain or even reverse.

The economy has been flirting with zero growth, and the realisation of negative readings could easily change the future path for the worse. The probability of this outcome is now not trivial.

This would be the ‘downside to the downside’ scenario and it would lead to an even more dramatic inflation undershoot than the second scenario. To end up here would be a mistake."

"Those who have to remortgage will mortgage for longer," - This makes no sense, everyone I know is taking mortgage fixes for just 2yrs, as their brokers are recommending the rates will drop.

Akhtar234 - IMO Interest rates will need to trim right down to 2.5% here in UK before recovery can properly begin. I think we're looking down the barrel of undershooting inflation for almost the entirety of 2026 calendar year, as presumably Bailey and the MPC will simply act much too slowly. Potentially, the floor for UK rates might lie somewhere between 1.75-2.25%. IMO - DYOR

Wildcat_Driver - AH sold a dream... when the reality is starkly different. It's nearly midday, and yet fewer than 150 trades... pretty shocking state of affairs by anyone's standard.

I only hope some sensible PI's dig deep into the company financials, and the array of sound evidence available out there - to come to their own conclusions on whether they should continue buying what AH is selling.

Gets to the root of why CPI LTH's have been dealt such costly destruction to their holdings I spoze... The LTH's keep buying up the stock, to endlessly 'average down' all whilst AH and his BOD's sell parts of the business off, and stack up them liabilities nice and high!

https://www.capita.com/about-capita - Page where you will find that CPI themselves say they have 34,000 employees (I was out by 500 ppl, as I was using the FY2024 figures and seems CPI have more recently updated the numbers on their site).

Still far too many employees for the Revenues - barely alters my view of their many problems as okay they have 500 fewer employees. However, they'd need to trim to about 16,000 for me to view the business in a +ve light.

Coputacentre has 20k employees, with Revenue £6.96bn for FY 2024 (versus CPI's £2.4bn)... really demonstrates nicely just how deep in trouble CPI really is!

Nonsense - I've given my evidence previously on why I think EZJ SP will struggle and I stand by it! UK economy struggling, interest rates remain restrictive and there's looming disinflation which should quickly tip into deflation territory unless there are swift rate cuts. Consumers fatigued from the high ticket prices are now well into cutting back - many businesses already reporting this widely. When the economy runs aground the first things which get cut are travel leisure spending, this time will not be any different!

Surprised EZJ is holding onto some of the gains from this morning... maybe it'll take a while for the MSC denial to filter through? Or maybe some of the shorts became closed when the SP rose?

Avocet123 is none of those things. They're a 🤖 - just take a look at their posting history... Mostly just copied and pasted from posts other users make on other boards. E.g. I post on EZJ, VOD and CPI (I don't hold any of those shares but... I'm interested in seeing where they actually head compared to where I think they will). Alot of the time Avocet123 was just reposting on here things I'd posted elsewhere, and so in the end I green filtered the 🤖 because they don't offer any analysis or evidence, just copy + paste or one liner nonsense.

I'm happy to read alternate views but those have to be backed up!

The 🤖 is simply a time waster.

Surely if MSC denied the story (and actually they were bidding) then they'd be liable for some sort of charge, as they could manipulate the price downwards through their denial.

I'd imagine they'd only be allowed to say 'no comment' in that hypothetical situation?

So I take their denial at face value... they were quick to deny and I think they're being truthful. As the alternative is a random Italian journo is correct (which IMV looks just about as unlikely to be the case as EZJ being £7 a share)!

SG2025 - Tbf I agree it looks mega suspicious, FCA should investigate. At least MSC were on the ball with responding rapidly to restore normal trading conditions, fair play to them for getting that out as rapidly as they could no doubt.

MSC slaps down the rumours - saying they 'deny involvement'

"You must be a shorter" - I'm not a shorter, else I'd be panicked at the prospect of a bid being mounted as even if temporary the SP spike would be causing pain... alas there is no pain though, as I'm not invested in EZJ 👍😎

If the bid is successful, then I'll need to do more waiting till it's available to buy for £3.40-£3.80p - happy to wait mind 👍😎

It should be priced around £4 max but investors bound to want too much, ultimately I'm sure the bidder will pull out - IMO

Personally I reckon the bid could fail... UK unemployment just increased to 4.8%, more fiscal drag on the way as well as further tax rises needed to repair the damage the Tories have done over 14yrs of chaos... then there's the fact passenger volumes are still no higher than 2019 and may well soften in 2026.

MSC will no doubt want to buy EZJ on the cheap, I don't think they'll offer a price investors will accept.

Also track record of EZJ bid failing just a few yrs ago too.

Great opportunity for those LTH's who want out to be able to exit!
