GoCPI - the political/economic situation and CPI's plight are intrinsically linked though... because it's the lack of true economic growth underneath the headline figures which has significantly contributed to CPI's troubles. Revenues down, contract values down, contract quantities down... CPI's troubles these last 7yrs are directly linked to the UK economy and the fact those at the top of CPI probably knew they could do very little about it so they just clung on until AH finally recently took over the helm.

Raharh - incorrect, highest tax burden since WW2 is entirely due to Tory failure to deliver any tangible growth - thats occured through erecting trade barriers with EU, the UK's biggest on the doorstep trading partner.

So... Immigration over last 3yrs cumulatively has been not far away from 3million people (legal and illegal added), take away all those people and GDP of UK would have been guranteed to have been negative for that entire time period. Whilst the right wingers love to wail & make noise about Immigration it's simple fact that high immigration levels have been keeping the country going, allowing UK to remain just about solvent. Without it there would have already been a GE long ago.

4urelius - As for taxes and debt... it's too simplistic to state a tax percentage as when Starmer comes to power he cannot just lower taxes with unfunded cuts and similarly he cannot cut immigration either... that's because he will first need to radically overhaul UK business model, to deliver tangible growth. As the growth begins to land only then can he adjust the tax bands.

See many scapegoat immigration but... high immigration is just a side effect of weak, no growth or shrinking economy... those in power reach for the immigration lever (as Home Office can shut borders for legal migration any time they wish too) as a last resort when they know they'll be ousted if they fail to deliver growth.

So given many here voted for these Tories... the low growth, high taxes, high immigration, failing public services and decay are your fault.

The 'fixes' you suggest TerryM1 won't work because they don't grapple with the root of the true problem and 4urelius it's the case Britain will never be a superpower ever again, delusions & wet dreams of yesteryear's grand British Empire won't bring it all back... the Empire is long gone and good riddance for it was not good for those underneath it's cruel boot. The world has moved on, there's no going back but with a Starmer Government we can return to co-operation with our global allies on the global stage.

Kularatnam - Ah yes, that age old classic trickle down economics whereby the gold of the super rich falls like sacred long overdue rains upon the parched & unwashed skin of those 'beneath' them...

4urelius - That's another one for your MP candidate to answer there... they'll be the ones with the parliamentary vote on the next budget after all. Sadly I don't have that power but... the high taxes are attributable to the Tory failure on delivering any meaningful economic growth. There's little growth because the largest piles of cash are sat in the bank accounts of less than 1% of the population, wealth redistribution should be a Labour priority.

HHH81 - as before you just continue on making wild assumptions. If you took a moment to think rather than descending to sweeping generalisations and dishing out of insults you might find life that bit happier.

We all pay lots of tax, me included, because the Tories have hiked the taxes right up to highest levels since 2nd world war so you've no one to blame for high taxes but yourself for having voted Tory.

Perfectly describes how as a nation, with CPI underpinning much service delivery, we all got into this sorry mess really as when many consciously choose to throw out reason, logic, balance aka centrism then yep, it tends to lead to chaos + destruction for the economy and society.

For clarity, I've reported nothing. I share the view shared by someone else (i forget who) that one can either read, or not read, another's comments. Not sure why any comments would have breached any rules because the discussion was around change in Gov fallout for CPI which I think we all agree there will be some impacts and some potentially significant ones too.

Wowsers... Sold their entire 5.12% stake! No wonder the SP tanked it recently.

Maybe Ryanair has been experiencing softer pricing if Wizz has been stealing their lunch?!... That 30% revenue increase is where I had expected Tui to have been (as inflation aids revenues too). EZJ also fell short on revenues + passengers vs my expectations. Wizz really has pulled off something special I want to know how they did it but... at guess I'd say they must have grown their proportion of market share here!

That means Wizz is by far the top performer... On The Beach did nowhere close to that. Whatever they've done there is working.

I'm happy for it to take longer, gives me time to buy up even more!

Pokerchips - An opportunity perhaps for some funds to increase their % stakes in telecoms sector maybe? Now that BT is offering a better investment prospect it could be funds join in on some buying action?

Surely some shorters possibly know they cannot recoup everything they've lost... So I see their actions as trying to capitalise on the post results and GE turbulence (inc. taking advantage of sellers who bought in sub 120p taking their profits) in order to reduce their losses.

With the Bank Holiday approaching some shorters may use that as an moment to further close out positions and I don't see more shorters joining in on the shorting action, as everyone now knows the AK short burning 🔥 dividend is substantial.

Pokerchips - From a pension fund or any other investment fund POV it's the case that BT is currently a rather sound investment. 8p annual divi and currently £1.25-6p a share... so that's guaranteed annual ROI of 6.4% - better than any bond/gilt on offer out out there (esp after Aug BoE rates trim). Pension + Investment funds always invest a proportion of their holdings into what they perceive as being safer equities, which BT is at these prices. All IMO. DYOR.

HHH81 - You're so judgemental - You literally have not got a clue. So assumptive... You know I've met many a bully like you, makes assumptions, acts grandiose, narcissism and judgement oozing from your sweaty pores.
