Kiwitwo - I've had that happen on the trades page of this site too, seems a bit anomalous sometimes!

I reckon higher than £160p as at that price the divi represents a 5% annual ROI... a decent underlying rate of return, especially when considering likelihood of 2x BoE rate cuts this year and another cut likely in Feb/March 2025 atop too.

Imo you may have sold out too early... this has a lot further to rise as Polo Tang etc al. Had encouraged many to place shorts which have to be losing in a big way... I'm continuing to accumulate as I see potential for BT SP to hit £1.70-75 where I previously thought it would peak at £1.60-65. I've not sold a single one of my shares as I anticipate BT will be a top 2024 FY performer here 🙂👍

Debts are not an issue, so long as they can be safely managed with revenue + income growth for the business. The debt purist narrative is a massive distraction as it's total nonsense, the whole economy runs on debt... debt is a necessity.

JG & GoCPI - "projected £50m one-off cash costs associated with the wave 2 of cost cuts that are currently underway"... that's the thing you see... Cost Cutting always ends up costing 1/3 to 3/4 more than anyone ever anticipates when they plan out the exercise and forecast the true costs so considering some inflation added atop of that... if you close to double that £50million cost then you'll reach the more likely true cost... should be about £90million give or take £5m.

Casapinos - I'm not sure I buy that... e.g. the Canada Pension short is a pretty substantial short position to take out - I think they thought BT was going to drop, they've now doubled down but I think it's going to cost them dearly as I'm sure many of us are continuing to add to our long hold postions.

Broomtree - that's the thing... lots of hope was brandished about on here, I did foretell and none had a valid counterpoint to the compelling case I put forwards... look I am open minded to shift my stance but nothing stood up to scrutiny and I'm relieved I did not make an investment in CPI. I was considering it due to current low SP and the type of sector, AI and data is big growing business. Sometimes though Broomtree, things are priced low for a very valid reason and hope will not change that.

HHH81 ya silly douchebag - of course I earn enough to pay tax - difference between us that I accept taxes are a fact of life and the price of doing business, whereas many of you on here like to complain about the high taxes levied by the very Tory Government you all supported... Anyway, In early-mid 2025 AH is going to come to you all asking for each of you to stump up some more cash, via one route or another, to fill up his CPI coffers and fund his grand plans so yep, a long wait until there's any danger of you having a CGT bill and an even longer one until there's a risk of Divi income tax too.

For CPI EBIT is rather misleading... because the deductions were monstrous.

Him and Terry probably enjoy the new age trendy sport amongst the privileged of partaking in migrant bashing too. Their faces red, like the gammons they are, blaming their long NHS waits for their hip operations upon migrants who've no wealth nor power to change anything! It doesn't seem to Dawn on them (for there's not much grey matter between their ears) that the Tories/reform/UKIP they've enabled are the very ones responsible for the national chaos around them... Still they nonetheless enjoy the winging, blaming Labour & migrants regardless!

In theory absolutely anything can happen... if they have the cash then shorters can opt to double down and extend their short positions e.g. if from their perspective they think they're correct and the SP will ultimately fall.

As although us with long hold positions believe the SP will rise, there's clearly still shorters who reckon we're wrong. What is clear is this is a huge battle over BT's SP direction right now.

Kiwitwo - What on earth are you on about? BT was privatised way back in 1984... Gov cannot sell it to raise billions as it does not own it. Your comment makes no sense but maybe you can clarify what you meant?

Culley stated: " it won’t be until 2025 half year results that we start to see some positive figures." - I reckon that's very optimistic... I see this cost cutting and investment as requiring more cash at some point and I fully expect CPI board to tap investors, perhaps with an RI/consolidation roughly around Springtime 2025, as by that point yep they may well have stemmed some of the losses but... they'll have a need to throw some cash into the pot > to invest & generate the growth they'll need, also to bridge the gap where they're waiting for UK Macroeconomic situation to improve.

As even after Labour take power things will keep on getting worse for a time because the Tories have already baked in a difficult autumn/winter and early Spring 25 ahead... Labour can only start changing things from around Oct onwards (they'll need time to pass new legislation/policy, and they'll need some settling in time)... Any positive changes will take at least 6-12 months before they begin to offer tangible support to businesses.

With the prospect of Zero Dividends right through until 2025, possibly even a little beyond.... these elevated inflation rates will keep on eroding the true value of any holdings in CPI equity.

Surely we'll be seeing shorters close out their positions today?! 🔥
