Good morning Brigade. Crikey lads, it is taking all my spare time to catch up on all the messages, perhaps we can appeal to the exchange for 4 day working so I can do all the background reading and research to have an informed stab at trading efficiently. Don't suppose it will happen and I will just have to muddle through.
Thanks to all, especially you T, for expressing their insights into the current situation.
Made no trades again yesterday but already regretting not selling a lot of stock shortly after the open..I would already be slightly ahead. Oh well. I seem to have lost my confidence to sell on the spikes which seem to be merely slight respites from massive down trends. I expect I will just sit on my hands again today and watch with my mouth open.

uuummm, didn't know that about CMC giving an update although I think I knew their figures from something in weekend press. I was hoping for some sector fallout gain on TCAP as a player between dealers but maybe that is too obsure.
Are you using IG yet? I keep finding some wonderful features that I hadn't noticed before. For example, it lists live prices for all shares in a sector of your choice for easy comparisons

I have come in from my building project, think I will go out again!
I am rather burying my head in the sand but I haven't got any sand left. The only bright points in my portfolio are that PLUS is recovering its recent losses, I think it was their good trading news and the fact that investors realise that there is a lot of trading/betting going on.

Note: Rule 9 is "Don't Panic" or was that a freudian slip?

A: I admire and envy your style. I would like to liquidate but feel iffy about selling stuff at a loss. Already started not buying anew and just holding the cash as I sold things. Think I have acted too slowly.

Well I am glad I had other things to do today other than trade. Bought more wood for my studio project, too wet right now to actually use the wood.
Happy with my one profitable trade on CCL, have bought back in again at 1362 for the incredible ride tomorrow, preferably up. Hope others did well, if not, then Rule 8 applies.

Sold CCL, little too soon but "desparate" to make a profit today, made 2.7%

V: where's V? Is he up? I see TESLA are trading near all time high...does that mean you have placed your order? Also, PLUS making a bit of a recovery.

I have eight chainsaws! hardly any of which work, nearly all dead or in intensive care. The new battery one is an ALDIs own absolute bargain. It looks and sounds like a toy but it does a good job, especially up a ladder and very remote from house. I have a mains cable one in my collection which is also brilliant. Couldn't justify the expense of the Stilh.
Seems PLUS is trying to recover, it's up 4.25% today....fair way still to go though.
MRW got me excited 20 mins ago, it started on a run but it didn't last long. Really itching to get out of MRW but has to be at a profit!

I didn't buy CCL, running an experiment...see if I can go 2 days without trading (then 3). It's part of TA, traders anonymous 5 step plan.
Did I tell you about my new battery chainsaw. What a fantastic piece of kit, instantly reduced my swearing at chainsaws not starting etc.

Jolly well done any of the brigade who actually made a profitable trade today. (sell at a loss and buy back for better position counts as profitable!!). It is indeed a rare occaision when I have to report making less than 8 trades...in fact I made none. I did make a little progress on studio but have run out of a certain size of wood so will have to get more tomorrow. Rain forcast here for the next few days. Doh!

A: I too have a bad feeling about the market. What is keeping the US market supported? Can't see it lasting.
FOMO is a great driver of herds. I am moving towards more cash but too slowly. I think I would rather miss out on a temporary 20% rise than suffer a 40% fall.

m: my occaisional but repeated problems with IG platform are....

(a) freezing of data on graphs, I use candlesticks, sometimes they show different current shareprice to the actual as listed in the DEAL panel. Sometimes there will be a gap in the graph. This seems to only apply to the shorter time periods such as 2min. It is usually cleared by switching to other longer time periods then back to the shorter 2 min period, but not always. This is happening a few times a week.

(b). Not updating the position. If I buy some shares, the number of shares doesn't appear in the position data, or if I buy extra shares in a stock, the extra ones are not added in. The position data as displayeds on the graph becomes wrong too. Today I had a new effect, I sold 5000 shares and it convinced itself I had sold 4500. The "history" archive seems to be correct. This also happens a few times a week. It can be cleared by logging out and back in but that takes time.

Both problems may be manifestations of the same problem as they appear to occur at more or less the same time.

I have notified IG and they seem to fob me off.

I was a bit busy with studio building today..The studio is at first floor level and I had to winch a plastic door and frame up there. Have you any idea how bl**dy heavy those plastic doors are with their internal metal frame. So much so that I had to build a gallows like frame high above to take the weight, then I had to reinforce it. One day, rodders, I expect to pay somebody to do these jobs for me. I was so exhausted by 3.30pm that I went for a lie down.

L: made a couple of reckless, irrational purchases today (HAM and TCAP) and thought of you and the word “DISCIPLINE”. Ha.

O: Thought of you today when I saw that rise in FXPO, unlucky timing, something we all suffer from occasionally. (I heard a rumour in the mess room that V considers himself an exponent, but don’t tell anyone.) At least you made profits elsewhere so some compensation.
I have been trading TCM for a couple of years, initially attracted by their tech and being non-stampy. I keep thinking they are a takeover target but forget why I feel that. I have a small holding in them now. Have earnt a fair bit from them over time but seem a slow mover lately.

T: I am same as you with OCDO, still kicking myself for not accepting a good quote on Friday for ridiculous reasons…I thought I had sold enough stock on Friday and thought I should keep some things. Ha. Now I am in OCDO at a high price. Not too bothered though as I am a believer in them I will hold for the next wave as you say. The only problem with that approach is of course, not being able to use the money I have tied up in them whilst we are waiting. Don’t they have a trading update soon? Or am I mixing them up?

V: I have JDW as well. They are in profit for me but think it will get better. Now GRG, don’t talk to me about GRG or PLUS or MRW!!

R: Again, we all have days like that and it’s best to do nothing rather that feel you have to buy something. As T would say, if in doubt do as little as possible but I paraphrase.
My profits today came from CINE, TUI2 and 2 trades on IAG. Have already made my weekly target but have a lot of stock somewhat out of contention so not expecting to make much more over the next couple of days unless Trump declares war on himself and we all reap the relief in the market!

Just sold IAG bought earlier (on the rise) for a 2.8% profit.
Missed selling DART at 1035, thought they had further to "fly" so just bought some more.
