m: The E in EMA is for exponential as opposed to simple moving average.
On IG you use "indicators", find EMA, select that then you will be offered a dialog box where you can choose which ema time period you want, which to display, what colour etc. The time period (if I understand it correctly) is the number of time periods that are used to calculate the average. So, ema 1 would simply follow the share price, ema 8 would average the last 8 time periods. By a weird convention we are using brown for ema 8, the colour of sh>>. The time period is the period your graph is set to, mine is usually 10 mins.
L, please correct me if I am in error here.
