m: Thanks, just looked at ASC and bought some. Rioja? Years ago I was working in the north east of Spain and fell in love with the stuff so now it's my go to wine of choice although I must admit I usually drink Merlot when I am in France as it is very economical to buy french wines in France. Fruity, Oaky (yes as it is matured in oak casks that are throw outs from US burbon production as it is illegal apparently to reuse oak casks for burbon in US?)

T: Thanks for info. Blimey, the market is dull as ditchwater, no alerts going off but on the positive side, I have made more progress on the studio, only have one small piece of shiplap to cut and fit to complete the glass wall. Earlier, I had to cut a piece of glass into a trapesoidal shape, thankfully I managed it. Got to say, I am quite proud of the results. Don't tell anyone but it's not finished yet.

O: Yes, I read a review of that book in the saturday Times a week or two ago and boy, she doesn't spare any punches. She writes about what a cheating B+st+rd he is, even paying somebody to sit his SATs for him. Needless to say, Trump is trying to get the book banned.

Oh dear, just realised that my SNG shares are not in our ISAs so I am possibly liable to cgt on the profits...quick make a loss on something, I'm good at that. (No, it's OK, I have losses rolling forward to set off against profits)

T: No, didn't buy back into SNG, I thought about it but portfolio is GGP/NCYT/SNG heavy so trying to rebalance a bit.
I have only made one trade on CCL, a buy at 971 on monday. Yes, I see that the 3 airlines on my US watchlist are nicely
positive but the cruise operators are still down. Although the airlines have come back a bit from their earlier gains,
something must have been announced I guess.
Tomorrow is official Rioja opening day, whoopee.

T: Well I did take some profits on NCYT, couldn't get 520p but got something like 470? when they were flavour of the month a while back. Boring market? yes, well, let's not overlook MCRO up 5.5% today

m: drizzeling down my way but having to get these slates back in place in case of a really heavy downpour. Yes it was wet rot, completely my fault, when I changed the roof pitch and extended the house 25 years ago, I had to just do a "temp" fix instead of finishing the roof proper (my excuse is that I got called away to work abroad suddenly). Well that temporary fix seemed to work. Must look up the word temporary to see whether there is a statute of limitations on it. Also in those days I was carp at doing DIY, now I'm goldfish.
I also like the smell of treatments but I get severe headaches with them, have to call on OH to even creosote a gate!!

T: Yes, dead right, we were out this morning doing the shopping, oh to be a creature of habit. Somebody once wrote "All habits are bad habits" huh, still makes me think.

It is very rare for me to have a single alert go off but that is the case today so I am declaring the market as officially boring. I did sell some SNG early on but didn't sell any GGP, I really thought it had further to go up. Missed a chance to buy some more PLUS cheaply in the low 1220s, I was actually getting a BUY quote when the jumped up 10p, Doh.
Got to get back onto my roof now, started joining the studio roof to the house roof the other day and discovered some rot so had to take off more slates to get access to replace timbers, well, one rafter and part of the wall plate, some battens etc, etc.

T: It is my intention to return to France next month but I only usually book the crossing a few days in advance.

R: Well done on your family's GGP holding, the best of luck to you all, personally, I think we don't need luck, just a little more patience.

Just while you're talking about cancelled holidays...spare a thought for me, I was due to go to France for 3 months in early April. It wasn't to be, poor me.

T: It's also about not being able to realise a loss, not being mentally able to sell for less that one paid. I am better at doing it now but it has taken me 30 years to get here. I should use stop losses, I used to but still hate them!!. Perhaps I should say that I almost have trouble realising a profit too, if I were to accept a profit from SNG I could use the funds elsewhere...if I thought I could make more certain (quicker?) profits. I cannot see CCL/MCRO/OCDO/ASC etc making a ten fold increase in value. I think 3 or 4 of my 7 AIM investments actually could within a year.
OK, you could argue one or two of the AIM investments might disappear, one or two stand still so I am relying on the others to produce sufficient profits to make it all worthwhile. At the same time I have the relative safety of spreading risk. You could also argue that by trading spikes and shakes on a share like ASC and making an extra 16% per week, for example, will soon make serious profits. Yes, maybe. Don't forget that I did give your system a serious trial for about 6 weeks, yes I made some profit but I lacked the discipline needed and found that often the number of shares I held was just going up and down as I failed to time the spikes and shakes sufficiently well, not perfectly but sufficiently well.
I could I suppose liberate profits from,say,GGP and serious up the ante on my beloved PLUS after all 1 or 2 percent of a larger number is a larger number.

T: Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I understand completely what you are telling me. I have an answer of sorts but I don't think it will satisfy you. I spread my risk and am invested currently in 24 companies. I have been trying to get that down, it was over 30. I accept that it is next to impossible to be monitoring closely more than a few companies at a time but this method has served me well with an acceptable to me risk/reward ratio. Remember that I have in the past been almost wiped out by having maybe 75% of my portfolio in CLLN, then losing it all. More recently, NMC went down but I only had 3% of my portfolio there plus I had made a fair bit trading them immediately before their demise. I am not suggesting that CCL/MCRO/ASC are at risk but who would have thought NMC, a FTSE100 company? Similarly, if I had invested 75% of my portfoilo in SNG or NCYT or GGP, I would be on a beach in the bahamas right now. Actually, you have made me think about it and I realise that I have maybe too much invested in those three as a proportion of my portfolio since their rises.

T: I suppose FRES (and GGP to a small extent) are gaining from the strong gold price.
I have some decent profits in GGP and SNG but I don't want to realise them at the moment. FOMO I guess, GGP should be a fair bit higher tomorrow after mining report is released. I just might top slice them then but will keep vast majority of my holding longer term. SNG may drop back to 150 but I believe it too will have much bigger gains later in the year.
For those following my record on these things, I have made 168% of my weekly target this week. That should pay for a new tailgate lift strut for my Corsa, it has become a pain since one of them failed.
For those interested in my sidebar ads, I have been getting repeated "Hot Sale" ads about shoes. It must be working as I have seen the same ad so many times now that I am starting to like them and I could be interested in buying. Ha

R: I am happy with the market plodding along when I have a sneaking suspicion that really it should be collapsing.
Bought back into PLUS on limit buy at 1241. (well, this is just replacing the ones I sold IN ERROR at 1249 yesterday). Thank heavens for no stampy.
