RE: Red Braces Brigade11 Oct 2020 16:27
Good afternoon Brigadiers,
I spent a "jolly" 3 hours on friday wirebrushing and painting the rear suspension and jacking points of my Corsa.
Not good for me at my age under a car on a concrete floor.
V... You asked how would I invest any possible gains? Well I would continue what I have done for many years which is to spread it around to minimise
risk. I used to have a lot of premium bonds but after about 8 or 10 years, I was only averaging about 2.5% on them so I sold them (ha: probably one month before the big prize eh?).
Friends of mine have buy to let properties but I don't think I could really sleep soundly at night, I would worry. Strange as I have never worried about shares...?perhaps I should start?
Also property seems complicated to me although I agree the "asset class" brings good variety to one's portfolio. This is part of the reason I have this house in France. I don't let it, so no income but by steadily improving it I hope to be increasing the capital value. Fixed interest bonds etc I am no longer keen on, I want the chance at least of some capital gain, both would be nice so I have dallied with income unit trusts and I suppose some of my earlier share purchases were specifically for dividend income and hopefully capital gain as well. I'm rambling now, I would continue to invest in shares, am already looking for the next AIM possibility, ha!
Perhaps I could use some money to have my long pieces of wood delivered, heck perhaps I could employ somebody to do the work....no, no, steady, that won't ever happen!
Thinking about Teslas, It would be churlish of me not to give them more thought when they did me the honour of naming a model after me!
R... hope your new job is meeting your expectations.
T... My friend in Caerphilly has just postponed her trip out here to March next year, she is very angry with the restrictions in force in her area. Ho hum, more grass cutting for me and the green stuff never seems to stop growing around here. I have actually done quite a bit of trading in NCYT and GGP and some in SNG these last few months so I have already taken some profits, some large profits actually. The last time I tried it with GGP, I got the timing all wrong and even though I ended up with more shares, I would have been better off if I had done nothing. I have only ever traded a minor portion of them (those 3 AIM shares), from 10% to maybe 30% of my holdings because of FOMO, I live in fear of being "out" when the price suddenly jumps and it isn't always for known reasons such as scheduled trading statements etc. Strange but I have different strategy for my "longer term holdings whereas OCDO then CCL, PLUS MCRO, ASC etc, I can trade them quite often with almost gay abandon.
Good luck all for next week.
