It gives rational behind the wait strategy. Whether this was the right or wrong thing to do remains to be seen time (and data) will tell.
Regardless of whether it turns out a master stroke or a disaster, the government and Boris have to take the advice of the experts. They need the humility and intelligence to realise that they have to rely on expert advice and then enforce policy without causing undue distress and panic.
The strict social isolation policy (pubs, clubs, restaurants, sport, events, over 70s) does to be at odds with schools remaining open. My own theory is that they are allowing the virus to spread among the 5 to 45 year olds (school children and their parents) as these are the least impacted when they get it whilst trying to protect the older population.
