I think most people will comply with health directives. This isn’t solely thinking of others, there is an element of benefit of self.
You only have to look at stripped supermarket shelves to realise people are only thinking of themselves.

There IS plenty to debate here and most people are doing so in a considered and serious manner.

The “there is nothing I can do to change” is exactly the attitude we don’t need right now. We have a collective responsibility to do our part. This sort of attitude is extremely dangerous.

Seems like the French had a similar attitude in Paris resulting in legal intervention.

In fact, the government advice is not common sense. It was described by the scientists as “counter intuitive”

However well intentioned society is and individuals are, they cannot be expected to do the right thing if they are not told what the right thing to do is! We need a coordinated action. It’s no good adopting multiple strategies that are mutually exclusive. Of course, once given direction it is up to individuals to be responsible enough to follow it.

It gives rational behind the wait strategy. Whether this was the right or wrong thing to do remains to be seen time (and data) will tell.
Regardless of whether it turns out a master stroke or a disaster, the government and Boris have to take the advice of the experts. They need the humility and intelligence to realise that they have to rely on expert advice and then enforce policy without causing undue distress and panic.

The strict social isolation policy (pubs, clubs, restaurants, sport, events, over 70s) does to be at odds with schools remaining open. My own theory is that they are allowing the virus to spread among the 5 to 45 year olds (school children and their parents) as these are the least impacted when they get it whilst trying to protect the older population.

I think it is important to distinguish between "carrier" and "spreader".
Carrier is someone who has the virus but does not exhibit symptoms and can infect others.
A spreader is someone who has come into contact with the virus and can pass it on to others. They themselves may or may not go on to contract the disease.
Don't forget, a door handle can be a "spreader"

Yes, I saw chester’s post last night and agree, it has been pretty row free recently.
Surely I’m allowed to ask for clarification where there is ambiguity. Where posts are less than a few minutes apart you can never be sure which is being responded to.
