Is there a relevance to Scancell?

Whilst T cells are predominantly part of the adaptive immune system, there are subsets of T cell that are on the borderline of adaptive and innate.

Not sure what the relevance is to Scancell or were you just trying to sat the DM have got it wrong?

Just to be clear, CRS has been caused by infections such as COVID-19, SARS, mers, avian influenza and been an adverse reaction to car-t, checkpoint inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies (like theralizumab)

The theralizumab was the most high profile incident and was probably the case TF was thinking of hence my response to him.

No one has suggested CRS has been caused by immunobody.

There was a drug called theralizumab that was being trialed by TeGenero immune therapeutics.
All sIx healthy volunteers had serious adverse reactions, 4 had organ failure. The reactions were put down to cytokine release syndrome. Sadly, although all six survived, they all had permenant damage of some sort.

Trials on humanised mice failed to give any indication what would happen in humans, the trial dose was actually smaller than that given to mice.

Needless to say TeGenero’s share price collapsed and they went bankrupt within six months.

I take your point re funding, but this is a “known unknown”. With the covid arm, there are also many known unknowns but possible a few unknown unknowns.
Hope that makes sense!
In terms of value, i suggested a £30M “fee”. That would progress the cancer treatments. I haven’t seen any other suggestions on possible valuation, or may have missed...?

Perhaps some of the more enlightened/helpful posters would care to comment...

The investment opportunity in terms of SCIB and modi are understood. We know the cancer target and the market value of those targets. We have phase 1 trial results for SCIB1 and data showing exceptional 5 year survival. We have laboratory data for modi1.

What do we have for a covid vaccine? Not a lot I would suggest. We don’t know the commercial value to Scancell (if any), we don’t know how funding will work (if any) and we don’t even know if we can produce an effective vaccine. So should we be excited about this new opportunity or concerned that it is yet another diversion? That’s a question BTW.

I was responding to your earlier post that was specifically about the covid 19 vaccine.
You have not addressed my questions, merely raised unrelated questions on SCIB1 and modi. I have already done my risk/reward analysis on those and have decided, for now, not to invest anymore. The covid vaccine “may” present a different opportunity, which is what I wanted you opinion on.

You headed your thread “don’t wish to bore you”. You have banged on for eight years about CD4, CD8 and cytotoxic during which time shareholders have received zero return. So yes, I’m afraid it is boring.

Getting it approved for trials
Proving safety in trials
Prove efficacy in trials
Getting it to market before anyone else (or being superior to anything else )
Getting the funding to do all of the above.

Assuming success on all the above, what do you think the value will be to Scancell and shareholders?

Very happy to have another punt but would like to know the odds and payback.

I’m afraid I come across the “units” conundrum quite regularly in my job.
As items will have different units of measure 1, 1 pair, 1 box of 10, 1 outer of 20 boxes, 1 pallet of 32 outlets, units can be manipulated to suit various agendas. Unless you break everything down to the lowest unit, you cannot make comparisons or forecasts.

A better more meaningful measure would be “number of days supply”.

I’m just mindful that people don’t get carried away.
As Ivy has said, the additional exposure alone will be worth a fortune. Anything on top in pounds shillings and pence will be a bonus.

I’m not suggesting that we be charitable necessarily but just realistic about the commercial opportunity. I think talk of £500M is a bit pie in the sky - we’ve had plenty of that over the years!
£30m would be enough to progress all platforms for a few years. 3 months ago we were wondering where would get the next 6m from and how much dilution there would be.

As an investor it would be good but as a tax payer I’d rather hope a more realistic price would be reached.
The cost of running Scancell is around £6m per year. If the government were to hire Scancell for a year, Scancell would want cost + markup + lost opportunity value. The later is debatable given the financial performance historically. But let’s say £6m cost + 100% markup £6m plus £6m opportunity cost (one round of funding). That’s £18m. Don’t forget it’s not just Scancell there are two Nottingham universities involved.
If we could come away with £18m-£30m to invest in Scancell’s other platforms I’d be happy - as both investor and tax payer!
