The fact IMAX was quoted as being profitable at 20% occupancy and Cineworld also cited break even below this level, will attract a lot of interest from new investors.

America is demonstrating a big demand to return o the movies, given face masks are worn, staggered seating adhered to and concession sales permit the removal of the mask, we can expect a positive movement on the share price.

IMAX reported profit earlier in the week with Bloomberg, profit at 20% occupancy.

Mooky/Cineworld said it’s true break even can be achieved BELOW 20% but cited that the business model expects differing occupancy depending on the week. They do need weekends to be busier to offset but appreciated that even with less than 50% capacity because of social distance, it is t going to pose a problem.

Data is suggesting Americans are keen to return to the cinema.

Watch it on Bloomberg TV. It will inspire a lot of confidence.

They post because they likely work for capital funds With short positions and employ juniors/associates to take care of refreshments and drive down private investor sentiment. China doesn’t ban movies but they INFLUENCE them. Hollywood can them ensure they keep in mind Chinese audiences. Many movies are agnostic to Chinese political sentiment and the minority that are not are discarded and low budget small movies.

Given China’s might in production, they will want to control the distribution and what better way to influence studios, than to be part of the EXHIBITOR

300,000 UNLIMITED memberships out of a US population of 330,000,000 = 0.09% = generates $82,800,000 per year ($82.8m)
117,000,000 UNLIMITED memberships out of a 1,300,000,000 = 0.09% = generates $32,292,000,000 per year ($32.2bn)

I'd welcome to see Cineworld expand in China and generate a further $32.2bn in PASSIVE income.

Chinese involvement with Hollywood is nothing new.

They already fund many movies and have some huge production and studios.

They recognise that Cineworld could also do tremendously well in China to a population of 1.3 Billion, as well as the existing 330m in the US, 65m in the UK.

I can only see this as an expansion and that means a bigger NAV which will reflect in a bigger market capital.

Exciting times for Cineworld shareholders. This has the potential to not just recover to pre-covid prices but signify GROWTH.

Cuomo has not given a timetable for indoor cinemas to open again but suggestions from other sources are that it will be discussed, next Wednesday which will be huge news.

Cineworld Regal Brass Mill in Waterbury (2 hours by car) and Cineworld Regal Branford (2.5 hours by train) will be opening in time. They are not on the 2 week quarantine list for New York.

That said I believe cinemas will open soon.

Really encouraging news, particularly when you consider winter doesn’t start until 22 December in the northern hemisphere. This suggests a vaccine being available before winter which is huge news.

As for profit at attendance levels, don’t forget what the CEO of Cinemark was quoted at, which bodes very well for Cineworld. Couple this with Cineworld stating with some landlords that they would not open unless rent was agreed at a particular price, else it wouldn’t be viable. This tells you Cineworld are acutely aware of what they need to make profit and sustain themselves. All encouraging for shareholders.

"Even at peak periods of time in a normal environment, our occupancy levels range from 20% to 30% and we can operate profitably during those scenarios," he said.

“He added that Cinemark has seen attendance as low as 10% and STILL was able to TURN A PROFIT.“

"We are in conversations with the landlord regarding our current terms, which we feel are unreasonable, and are hoping to reopen once the matter has been resolved.

"But for the time-being, especially during this pandemic, we are unable to open the cinema and operate it at a PROFITABLE level.”

I’d take the article you shared which is current and written by an infectious disease specialist at University Virginia over a Vox piece by a journalist, any day.

Everything is looking encouraging and with Greece ready to take 700k doses this December, we are already going to start seeing treatment administered ahead of winter (which officially starts 22 December).

UK Cineworld Unlimited memberships is unknown but it certainly gives you an idea that sufficent liquidity is there.

I'm going with friends on Friday 28th August. My ticket is booked.

Ask yourself this, if schools and offices resume, is sitting in stagered, static seating for 90 mins on average, cleaned after each viewing not safer?

The City Pub Group said it made a profit after resuming trading at some of its sites this month even though its revenues were down by more than a third on its previous levels.

Like-for-like sales were at 63 per cent of their prior volume in the three weeks after the government allowed public houses to reopen again.

If a pub group can return a profit it tells you that a demand for socialising and leisure exists and footfall, even reduced can return a PROFIT.

We know cinemas can operate profit at as little as 10-20%. This bodes well for Cineworld.
