Discounting California, Texas and Arizona who have extended their shutdown to reduce their new infections - 80% of Regal Cineworld cinemas are still set to OPEN.

When you consider that California, Texas and Arizona also part of the Unlimited card membership scheme, they will still bring in revenue whilst their cinemas remain closed. This puts Cineworld in a very favourable position of reducing operating costs and still brining in revenue.

Florida has made it clear, it is not going back to lock-down.

California's governor, Gavin Newsom has set his eyes on re-opening towards the end of this month and are working hard to bring their new infection numbers down.

Ask yourself, given death counts continue to decline; the former epicentre, New York is doing so well with their re-opening and low infection and mortality numbers, do you want to be out before the inevitble news that the other states are resuming their re-opening?

I just booked some tickets with my local Odeon - I'm still a fan of Cineworld but I'll be enjoying a movie this weekend and will be sure to report back as I'm sure the media will on popular and full attendance will be.

This will bode very well for investors on Monday when we see a lot of positive media reports on how many enjoyed socialising which included cinema.

Granted this isn't Cineworld but very encouraging to see Odeon UK are now taking advanced bookings for the re-opening in 2 days time.

They have a great line up of IMAX movies being re-released including:

- Dark Knight
- Bloodshot
- Interstellar

As well as a number of 2D screenings of favourites

- La La Land
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Star Wars Episode V
- Back To the Future Anniversary

The market is picking up that national lockdowns in the UK are a thing of the past now and it's going to be business as usual.

Don't forget that 80% of UK cinema audiences are under the age of 45 who have a very low infection and mortaility rate so they will be turning out in numbers to enjoy a meal out and a few hours watching a movie as they celebrate the return to socialising.

Many will recall that Massachusetts, USA was one of the first states to re-open for business and leisure activities.
They have seen protests as well as mass gatherings in churches and places of worship and so far, despite the resurgence in some states of new cases, have bucked the trend.

The state is important because It is in its SEVENTH (7th) week of REOPENING and seeing new cases continuing to drop; the rate of positive tests is just 2%.

Yesterday, the state reported no deaths related to Coronavirus for the first time.

They have been credited for wearing masks and using good judgement and common sense.

This is a good example of towns/states working well with new measures and making a success.

It is a shrewd move by Cineworld. They get to save on operating costs and align their opening to movie release dates.
This together with the various government support initiatives alongisde their lending capabilities, places them in a good position to weather closure for 30 days.

In a report from the Financial Times, the firm’s chief executive declared “we are not worried”. He cited the fact that most of the company’s costs were variable, noting “if we don’t sell movies, we don’t pay for the movies. If we don’t see Pepsi, we don’t pay for the Pepsi”.

Just how much money does cinema bring in for studios and distributors?

Answer? A considerable sum.

How much of that $33 billion is proportion to the USA market - surely it must be the majority, right?

No. The USA market only accounted for 34% of worldwide cinema ticket sales in 2019. The other 66% was from audiences from the rest of the world, including Europe.

Ask yourselves, would the movie industry give up on a revenue stream generating this amount of money which significantly offsets the loss from piracy which Video on Demand just cannot avoid.

Cineworld is now seriously oversold and presents an absolute steal at this price.

Smart move by Cineworld to defer UK and USA openings to 31 July and save money.

It's all about the alignment with new Hollywood movie releases for the US and UK.

Their Western Europe and Israel cinemas will carry on opening as planned because they play more local made movies.

1. Cineworld have enough funds to support a closure of their cinemas until the end of the year. Not that this is going to happen.
2. Re-opening plans remains on track.
3. Russell Crow's Unhinged movie remains on track for July 10 - USA and July 17 - UK.
4. UK and US Governments have made it clear they will not re-introduce a nationwide lockdown upon any resurgence. Rather, they will assess each state by state.
5. Infection numbers may appear to be increasing in the US but death rates are continuing to decline.
6. The additional $0.25bn in funds that Cineworld have give them a stronger financial position to weather this storm along with goverment stimulas support bills.
7. Hollywood relies on box office sales and VOD will never replace the cinema experience.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but post likes this come across as subtle ways to bring his name back into focus and support the de-ramping he is set about to do to drive down the SP for an entry. Maybe I've been reading too many conspiracy theories or political drama novels but this smacks of collusion.

Have you considered the income received from those with Unlimited cards? There will be passive income recevied so calculations with occupancy alone won't give you an accurate NAV.

I think you've called it very well so far, Investroid but a lot has changed since we last saw the 50s.
Government aren't taking blanket lockdown approaches upon resurgence. New York is seeing very favourable numbers at as are approximately 70% of states. Death rates haven't spiked and infection numbers are going to be controlled with the advent of the new restrictions in pockets, only. That is the key word - pockets because the rest of the economy is still given a green light.

To those worrying about the decline, hold steady - this is going to recover as the infection numbers in the USA reduce.

We will be adding screens at our concessions areas where safe distancing cannot be maintained.

CONTACTLESS PAYMENTS
Our tills will be accepting contactless card payments up to a value of £45 and Apple Pay/Google Pay mobile payments with no limit in our cinemas. The ticket machines in most of our cinemas also accept contactless payments and we’re working on upgrading the rest.

TRAINING & PPE
All employees will receive specific COVID-19 training and PPE will be provided to employees where the risk assessment has deemed it necessary, in line with government requirements.

I had a look at the 2019 full end of year performance. It revealed Hammerson's portfolio value is currently around £8bn. Granted these are supported by loans, the LTV (loan to value) was ~40%. That means Hammersons are holding an asset value, at todays market minus 5% for depreciation, of over £4bn.

766 million shares in circulation. Based on Hammerson's assets alone of £4bn, their share price should reflect a Net Asset Value (NAV) of £5.00. At the current share price of £1.10 investors are realising that this company has been oversold.

I'm expecting to see us break £1.50 and onto £2.00 very soon.

I was doing a little research on cinema audiances by age in the UK and came across this useful site:

It revealed that 82% of the UK cinema audience was under the age of 45.

Why is this important?

Well, we have witness that the age group that, to date, have presented the least numbers of mortality in the UK concerning covid-19 is the under 45s. Less than 500 amongst a population of 65 million, gives a percentage of mortality from covid-19 at 0.000007%.

The age group we have seen most at risk of infection is 65+, this is a demographic that makes up less than 8% of the UK cinema audience. If, for arguments sake, they were to adopt a risk averse approach to cinema or any leisure activities for that matter, I don't beleive they would make a significant enought dent to revenue streams to warrant a great concern.

I see the fundementals established and a large number of risks mitigated following the RNS that was published so I am bullish that we will see 100p+, tomorrow.
