VP is no exception . We just have to try and do our best to make sure the masses don't suffer at the cost of one or two egoistic leaders. Sadaam was given plenty of opportunities and many countries tried to convince him what was the best way forward. Of course this is on a much bigger stage but the principles are exactly the same.
The willingness and the desire should be there first and foremost. Putin is not an exception.

I don't honestly think fsome members understand the meaning of the word "Realistic"
Fact 1: Russia and Ukraine are causing more and more deaths and destruction by the hour.
Fact 2: The cost to both economys and the west is astronomical.
FACT 3: Spiraling inflation and stagflation is going to be deep seated shortly causing millions to fall into the poverty trap.
Fact 4:This is going to end up in negotiations anyway as the leader of the free world as well as Zelensky have indicated.
So why not negotiate now????
It beggars belief.

The cost to the west and the UK in particular of this war not stopping soon are enormous. We keep on talking about the cost to Russia and UKR but there are secondary implications to the rest enormously.Today the GOVT has sid that it has no money in the kitty to provide free school meals to children whose parents are on Universal credit.At a time when Inflation is hitting double digits and there is more pain and sacrifies to be madeas the war continues is it morally right to talk about pumping more and more aid and arms to a conflict which if worked upon with all the desires and willingness can succeed in a negotiation to stop and for both sides to come to an agreement.
The politicians will not be affected by all this and will brush this off as a textbook exercise.
Its always the masses and the "loyal" citiuzens who have to cough up for years to come.

You are right in that an agressor should be pushed back.But when it's not that easy and it causes more death and destruction at the level we've all seen to date you have to ask what is your plan B.
And plan B in my opinion is a full dialogue and diplomacy at the highest level to achieve in the first instance the cessation to the killing of man,woman and children.
The negotiations would continue to achieve other main objectives from thereon.

I couldnt agree more with you. I want the war to stop tommorrow if i could and drive the russians back all the way back to moscow.
I was just pointing out we have a very wide membership with differing views and it would be unfair to the BB membership if their views no matter how unreal or fanatical they may sound are not allowed to be expressed.
In this situation you can choose to read whatever you want. Its your choice.

Judging from your comments you want to sit on the fence and pretend that there is really not a lot the world can do because of the material facts outlined in your post. You have "thrown in the towel" as if the world has never negotiated and successfully stopped conflicts in the past. Well I beg to differ.
Most wars have and NEED to be stopped before they spiral out of control. I don't think that attempts made at present are fruitful but continuous pressure will yield results. That I have no doubt whatsoever.

Serbia is really winding the EU.IT has signed a three year deal with the russians to have oil supplies at favourable rates.
At the other end Hungary is blocking the EU from imposing an oil embargo.
Unity seems to be crumbling.

The military activity was a significant sign that the partnership between China and Russia has not weakened even as the three-month-old war in Ukraine has resulted in thousands of civilian deaths.
This is not good news if more and more support is given to continue the war and solutions need to be sought now.

Sorry mate. They can. Theres nothing stopping the BOD to vote and cancel the dividend the next time around.
It all depends on the financials and of course the war apart from what happens to the production of gold from the nezhda mine. What I would say is its not their policy to stop dividend payments if the are "justfiable"

With prospect of peace talks a possibility we can be more hopeful but there again it could all go *i*s up.

I will not touch my holding in POLY (82%). If anything i will increase at the right opportunity.
I like TLW and I think with oil in the spotlight there's every chance this could hit the 70's or 80's.
They have just confirmed some big profits from their ventures in Ghana.
I am selling POG because I think the RNS and other factors have given a green light for investors to dump.
Another good one is HBR.
My holding in POG will reduce to 6k after half is sold.I am happy to leave it in there as a lottery.

Wasn't selling POLY but I thought sell half of my POG as this is now getting flat and the risk is 10x greater than POLY.
Invest the proceeds in three stocks . POLY HBR and TLW.
