Multiplexing - even bigger markey10 Aug 2020 22:28
At the risk of returning to the "have I got flu's for you" I found this paper
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28220811/
Whilst it describes aptamers (an affimer competitor) it describes RSV - a potentially dangerous virus in infants and geriatrics.
Its not a big leap to imagine a test with several lines on a stick for each virus. Covid, RSV, Flu, Nova virus etc etc. Hell make them each a different colour and just hope you don't get the full house.
Once you have the affirmers you could also send them to SKIN and their kit could be placed in schools, cruise ship, care homes etc. We may be at a paradigm shift in terms of public health surveillance rather than clinical diagnostics but all reliant on molecules such as affirmers.
