RE: When the feed stock dwindles, go digging1 Oct 2020 16:58
Aside to my last post, some tips that have been closed due to environmental issues, could come into play.
One tip, is just off the M62 about 8 miles west of the Humber Bridge. The company behind the Gilberdyke 'waste mountain' faces £1.7m tax bill, with HMRC taking High court action to force payment.
At one stage, the agency ordered the firm to remove 70,000 cubic metres of waste because of concerns over the amount of rubbish being brought to the site, and that was just the excess amount over the allowed limit.
Can't remember, or find what the cost was estimated to be to remove the contents of this tip, but I 'think' it was in the high 6 figures at least, and possibly over £1 million.
Of course to remove such, would be cheaper if some of the rubbish could be used as feed stock in a DGM, and there must be many councils that are facing an ever increasing disposal of rubbish headache.
Up eer in Yorkshire, we have that saying, 'Where there's muck, there's brass', looking at PHE, that saying is starting to ring very true.
