duracellAA. "First production" meaning first profitable production. Given that even the Sirius BOD cannot agree on that definition, that is just my interpretation of the term. By "peak production" I mean 20 mtpa (based on the single tunnel handling capacity). Higher costs could be incurred by unforeseen operational or financial problems. The costs and conditions for most of the debt funding have yet to be nailed down, which should be another cause for investor caution. Of course, everything might go swimmingly from here on in. I might even invest myself, now that the SP seems to reflect the risks involved. As I said here several weeks ago, I'm rather wary of the 'jam tomorrow' nature of this share. If I do decide to buy in at 13-14p, I will be setting a stop loss at 10p.

BradSmith. Things look so straightforward in your list. Sirius is at least five years away from first production and probably a decade away from peak production. In the meantime, there could be more operational delays, higher costs, adverse changes in market conditions and, of course, further share dilution. Provided people are cognizant of the risks and plan accordingly, Sirius is not an unreasonable bet for a speculative investment. With some of the irresponsible talk about using an 'overdraft' or a 'bridging loan' to buy more shares - and with any mention of stop losses being dismissed (often abusively), some investors here are clearly living in cloud cuckoo land.

And another drop today. I bought at £15.21 just last month - for the 5% yield, not expecting any rise. Any uptick in the SP is a pleasant bonus.

With the distinct possibility of Johnson becoming Prime Minister, the prospect of a (outsourcing-hostile) Corbyn government coming to power is receding - hence, I think, the rally in the SP. Polling tends to show that, in a general election, Johnson would beat Corbyn hands down. Of course, Brexit uncertainty still looms and general share volatility will continue until that is resolved. For what its worth, I don't believe Johnson (or Hunt) will leave the EU without a deal. We'll see.

causal. It should be about opinions, but it appears some people didn't get the memo. Infantile insults and delusional accusations might count as 'opinions', but they add very little to the quality of the share chat.

What was it casapinos said about 'abject fear'? Some people definitely need to learn to manage their emotions a little better before venturing into investing.

Despite some suggestions to the contrary, nothing I have said here is inconsistent with casapinos's observations. I thought his comment about "hysteria, conspiracist chatter and paranoia about market manipulation and insider dealing" was particularly apt. My admonitions about setting stop losses on speculative investments still stand - and I proffer them only because they have saved me from losing my shirt on speculative investments, more than once. Why the hostility?

ffcmember (and others). We've all been there. Awful feeling. I honestly hope the SP recovers - and it probably will. Positive sentiment in the market is better for all of us (but it's also important not to lose sight of reality). Have a good 'un.

I was a Debenhams shareholder, but I got out, twice, with a modest loss, thanks to stop losses. Everyone was eventually ignored on the Debenhams bb, because the SP fell to zero - something the eternal optimists there said could never happen (remind you of anything?).

I commented on the Kier bb, because I spent almost 4 years having to drive through (and sit in) their A30 Temple-Higher Carblake roadworks, owing to their running almost 2 years late on the project. I said I was unsurprised they were in trouble and not sorry (except for their workers and shareholders).

I've also commented on lots of other share bbs - with good and bad observations. So what? If you're too snowflakey to hear a bit of reality or negativity regarding your shares - stay away from the stock exchange and put your money in a nice savings account instead.

I've seen a couple of people here talking of buying this share on 'overdraft' and with 'a bridging loan'. Utter madness. Sadly, easy share trading brings out the gambler in some people.

I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone place a stop loss on an established miner like, say, Rio Tinto, but a stop loss is definitely a safe precaution when investing in a highly speculative company that is gobbling up cash and is years away from turning a profit . Ten percent would be too cautious, but 50-70% might be wise, depending on your attitude to risk. Don't take my advice (or that of investors desperate to see an improvement in the SP). Do your own research.

Good to see a recovery today. It's rather amusing to see some of the same people who, yesterday, were cautioning us to take the long view regarding the falling SP, obsessing over individual share trades today. That way madness lies.

Jimbo. I'm an investor, chatting about a share, in a share chat forum. Of course people are going to make the usual tired accusations about shorting - as if anything we say here can affect the SP one jot. I'm imparting my experience of using stop losses, which I happen to think can be a very useful device when a highly speculative share is in freefall.

I'm guessing most investors here will have bought around the 20p mark. I've never been down 35% and held - and I've never had cause to regret letting go, but each to his own.

In this situation, stop loss is your friend. Most of us have been here before and it's not a nice feeling - but sometimes it's better to take a hit and walk away.

I have no doubt the Sirius project will be operational and viable at some point in the next decade. Unfortunately, I suspect the shareholders will have been left far behind by then. The SP isn't dropping for nothing. Shareholders tend to be the first (and last) casualties of creeping share dilution.

Given the additional hours I spent sitting in traffic due to Kier's bugled execution of the A30 Temple-Higher Carblake improvement scheme, I'm totally unsurprised (and not a bit disappointed) to see them in the poo. Sorry to any holders, but this cluster **** of a company had it coming.
