Clearly nerves are getting a little raw around here. It's like a brawl in a gold rush town. (Possibly not a good analogy - given that the prospectors usually ended up broke.)

I'm utterly astounded the SP has held up so well today - and even more surprised people are still buying. How wrong can you be?

When I bought these at £15.21 back in May, I could never have imagined they would be almost 200p up by the summer. I sold Unilever (at 20% profit) to buy GSK, just for the better divi. It makes a pleasant change from the more common scenario - a SP nosediving as soon as I buy it.

Who the hell is selling at this price? They can't be making anything. Why not just sit it out?

Still on track with no surprises, I'm guessing. The Corporate Travel Management bid for Capita's travel arm seems to have gone quiet. I wonder if the H1 results will give us an update on that.

With the prospect of a Corbyn government becoming more remote, the SP seems to be recovering steadily.

Because of the government contracting-out areas in which Capita operates, bad news seems to be a regular feature. I think the company needs to get a grip of this, but much of it may still be a hangover from systems put in place by the old regime. One thing is for sure, government ministers must love Capita. It takes the flak, so they don't have to.

Easy to see the reason for the delay. But why? Are they hoping a tsunami will wipe Belgium off the map over the weekend? Failing such a calamity, don tin hats come Monday morning.

The fall in Rio and other iron ore miners was due to a downgrade in the iron ore mining sector by one broker, plus general fears about iron ore overproduction. That really has zero bearing on the Sirius fall.

Capita PLC said Thursday it secured a GBP525 million contract to modernise the fire and rescue service of the UK Ministry of Defence.

The 12-year deal will see the FTSE 250-listed support services firm assist the MoD in delivering its Defence Fire & Rescue Project. Capita was initially selected as the winning tenderer by the MoD in June 2018.

The agreement will see Capita work on 53 fire stations operated by the MoD in the UK, Falkland Islands and Cyprus. The project will see digital technology deployed, new fire engines acquired and other equipment upgraded.

In 2018, Capita generated GBP272.6 million in pretax profit on revenue of GBP3.92 billion.

I wasn't too concerned about the constant ups and downs, as I bought this as a long-term holding, but it is now around the same price it was 3 years ago - despite the company's ongoing success. That does make me question just how much the SP will progress in the next 5 years. I'll certainly wait until after a Brexit decision, but if the SP doesn't show some consistent rises after that, I will be thinking about getting rid. It's not like there's even a divi to sugar the pill.

It was sitting around the mid-70s up until a few weeks ago. As soon as the SP makes any headway, down it goes again. This has been the trend for quite a while now, even pre-Woodford crisis. It is inexplicable, given the increasing profitability of the company.

Nice to see some positive movement. Perhaps the penny has dropped that this company increased its turnover by 163% in the last FY.

AParky. So what? The point is, it was taken private, at £12.50 per share - and with the agreement of 96% of the company's shareholders.

Good to see the SP recovering this week. You can almost hear the collective sigh of relief. Barring any bad news or change in investor sentiment, the SP will probably continue to inch upward. I imagine there will be some heavy selling around the 20p mark though.

When Levine took his previous oil company (Imperial Energy) private in 2008, shareholders got a £12.50-a-share cash offer, which represented a 62 per cent premium to Imperial’s share price. If you bought President now (or pretty much any time in the past 3 years), you would be unlikely to lose out in the event of President going private (and might even make a tidy profit). That said, it isn't even on the cards.

Too many investors want to see instant results - which certainly isn't the way the oil business works. A lot of the hard work is in the preparation. And let us not forget that targets are ambitions, not promises. I do not see any significant cause for concern in the company's performance, certainly for the long term.

The constant sells recently are inexplicable . I topped up by a third of my holding yesterday. When I see any fall in the SP I just remind myself that Peter Levine has recently put £45 million of his own cash into President Energy.
