RE: Re: Project Update RNS10 Mar 2019 17:39
A sunny afternoon to you all. Just back from walking the dogs.
Pleased I am to have provided Baz72 and BBBaz with a point of discussion or was it a bone of contention? LoL!
As you say BBB, mines have (previously had) spoil heaps for a reason........cheapest option! At the expense of the environment that is no longer an acceptable option in the 21st century. Companies must expect to tidy up their activities as they proceed as too many have previously left dereliction and pollution. Hence SG's progressive dry-stacking and restoration as the project proceeds at extra production cost as Baz72 pointed out, but with a huge up-front capital saving. I do not have the knowledge to compare the costs of surface dry-stacking and restoration with underground stope back-fill, but the cost of landscaping and restoration in the former is significant and so it is likely to be comparable with stope-fill handling costs of the latter. So BBB, your dismissal of stope back-fill based on only an assertion of "prohibitive" cost (as compared to Baz72's attempt of comparison) I would politely suggest is based in the past experience of us both and not upon modern realities.
Anyway, as I pointed out in my Friday post, it will be several years of production before sufficient void space could be made available for an underground tailings disposal option, so don't beat yourselves up on it!
In the much nearer future, BBB has more important events like holiday in Beni again. Don't forget to get back by 11pm (UK time) on the 29th March or you may be abandoned there! I have noted the 7th April as an important date for you!
Regards to all here, R.
