The grades are excellent for near surface and it is within trucking distance of Telfer. It will take a lot of drilling to prove up whether it is feasible to mine. There is much more to be found in this region.

I don’t think the share price of GGP is being manipulated to hold it back. If you look at the share price chart, GGP has already appreciated considerably over the last couple of years. To move further GGP needs to pull in institutional investors. I keep checking the share register and the majority of shares appear to be held by private investors who hold their shares through Nominees like Hargreaves Lansdown. The largest single investor is Beetham, there are a few others like Primorus and Metal Tiger but still holding relatively small amounts. There is a distinct lack of specialist institutional investors, mining companies and HNWI. What is holding them back from buying? Perhaps they want to see more drill results confirming the size of the orebody before they commit.

There is an article in the Australian same time last year where Biswas was saying they were happy to sell Telfer as it was under performing. How the outlook has changed!!

They are a very shrewd outfit them lot. Cite takeover of Kalahari in 2011/2012. ££££££££ jackpot time if Havieron turns out to be a tier 1 asset. If Biswas is talking about another 9 to 12 months, the ongoing drill results are good. Just a waiting game here!

To be so highly profiled in that report, Havieron must be looking good.

At that time I think it would have been a buy. There are a lot of big trades today, volume has been higher than average last few days, something is brewing.

I wonder if GGP is starting to get some institutional interest. About bloody time, has the penny finally dropped that Havieron is starting to look like a large important copper/gold discovery and benefits from being located next to an existing mega mine with all the facilities needed to process the ore and the backing of a major?

Things can turn very quickly, look at the Eurasian share price chart. There certainly are an awful lot of drill core assays due. As for parliament, that is broken and will take years to fix.

Greatland have a 25/30% share in Havieron (plus other assets and several million in the bank currently). To think that would only be of interest to Newcrest is a mistake. There are several companies who specialise in buying up royalties and buying out minority interests such as Franco Nevada and Anglo Pacific. I mentioned the Marianna Resources takeover the other day, that was by Sandstorm who are a royalties company, not the majority holder in the project. They just look at the value of what is in the ground and what the return on their investment will be.

It may have something to do with the PNG government demanding a stake in the Newcrest/Harmony jv at Wafi Golpu. Papua New Guinea is now considered high risk.

They didn’t buy 70% of a tier 1 asset for $65 million. They bought into a project with potential at an early stage in exchange for spending up to $65 million on exploration. Tier 1 discoveries are very rare, if indeed Havieron turns out to be one (there is no resource estimate yet). With the benefit of hindsight, that may have been a bargain but the remainder will have to be bought at closer to market value.

I think so and hopefully these brokers will be realising this, but there is no resource estimate for Havieron yet.

If this is a 10m oz plus deposit, £300 million won’t be enough to buy Greatland’s share. Marianna Resources was bought out for £167 million for a 30% share of the 3.5m oz Hot Maden project in Turkey. Although Havieron is deep, it all looks high grade and because all the infrastructure is present, it will be relatively cheap to mine. Australia is also a much safer jurisdiction. Current share price now looks to be ridiculously undervaluing Greatland Gold.

Did you notice the reasons given for the Aisc increasing “increased near mine exploration costs”, so are they putting Havieron costs against Telfer’s financials?

I have always thought that from Newcrest’s point of view the economics of Havieron are very different from many other projects because of it’s proximity to Telfer. The investment needed to mine at Havieron will be greatly reduced because all the infrastructure is already present at Telfer. There will be massive savings in cost and time to first production. I would imagine to shut Telfer will be very costly, firstly because Newcrest has to write down the value which they previously attributed to it in their accounts and secondly there is the cost of decommissioning. If there is sufficient high grade ore at Havieron to keep Telfer going, Newcrest can turn Telfer from a big liability back into an asset, little wonder they like it a lot. Fingers crossed the orebody at Havieron is still growing and will be big enough and rich enough to feed Telfer.

The one thing really weighing on sentiment here is the need for a fundraise and what price it is going to be at. Given the rate at which Solgold have been burning through cash it is going to have to be a big raise. The sooner it is sorted the better.
