RE: COPY AND PASTE TO PRIME MINISTER22 Apr 2021 14:22
Thinking AS just piled a lot of pressure on Government. ‘Government is slow (PD, PHE, BSI), can sell to EU, looking at USA, best LFT, demand outstrips supply. Boris needs to do some arse kicking.

I think it illustrates the type of thing we are up against. He incorrectly assumes someone is going to send him a test without requesting one in order to make himself appear good. But while he is getting lots of likes based on his false assumption feeling he is undermining efforts to control the virus. Perhaps he doesn’t realise this.
The requirement in Spain last December was for a negative PCR. So I think it’s a carry over from then. I can imagine they will quickly drop it when destination countries stop asking for PCR.

Vegas, I agree. But too early to blow the whistle to go over the top at the moment. When the Government blows the whistle stand by for plenty of excitement.

Vegas 22. Assume you understand pedal to the metal and not until seeing the whites. What I mean is that it’s important to maximise vaccine take up and that to start the PR on Avacta tests before their launch will achieve little and risk the vaccine shy having another reason to avoid having the jab. It will also attract criticism because the test is not ready for launch just yet. The best time for the Government to push really hard on Avacta tests is when they are ready. Soon I hope.
Goldtrig. The parent on BBC news said that it was only his child that was PCR tested. He was found to be negative, yet despite the negative result the whole family needed to isolate. This situation is crying out for an accurate test with no false positives and good PR to put an end to the bad press the LFT is getting.
I saw the same BBC news item. Nothing positive mentioned about LFTs. They interviewed a parent who said their child had tested positive using LFT and then negative with PCR. Regardless of the negative result he said the entire household were told to isolate for 10 days. If that part of the procedure does not change many parents will be tempted to be dishonest when carrying out tests at home.
Maybe a behavioural scientist, advising the government, has suggested that good news about a wonderful U.K. test would reduce vaccine uptake. And to wait until those at high risk of hospitalisation are vaccinated before releasing the good news we all await.
No need to ask anyone to explain the value of a mask because there’s a simple experiment you can perform yourself at home. Put mask on and look at yourself in a mirror. Now gob at your reflection. Then take mask off and repeat the gobbing at your reflection. Observe the difference in the quality of the reflections. Should be good with mask on and not so good with mask off.
