The answers are pretty weak and the questions are, so far, not incisive enough. More questions hopefully on extending dosage times and exactly how they are measuring anything.

The word can also mean "supreme" or "excellent" as well as the assumed meaning of "made in the UK".

I don't doubt that the government have learnt that tests made elsewhere are neither supreme, excellent, or made in the UK and are looking to change all of these aspects for numerous reasons.

Is it a large undertaking? Yes.

Is it impossible to achieve? No.

I think that's how AS explained it.

As the government prepares to spend billions on accurate testing to:

Detect asymptomatic carriers
Assess the progress of vaccinations
Reopen schools
Provide area by area data on infections
Reduce the pressure on the NHS
Etcetera

Then the quieter Avacta are right now all the better in my very humble opinion.

More than likely that tests will be badged NHS or DHSC. Of more interest would be to know if swab and is it front of nose and/or saliva.

Given what David Wilson talked about it looks possible that the government are bringing together the Original Equipment Manufacturers and the likely test providers.

For clarity, accepting what sagetrade has already said, producing a sub standard test would not make sense if you are looking at the world market. This is what is available and if we have had to wait when the pandemic is still increasing, then I am unclear why there is a need to rush. I think Avacta are looking beyond the UK as well as supporting it initially.

In addition, the saliva test is being progressed in alongside a nasal test and hasn't disappeared.

BAMS is already available via Adeptrix for research purposes at $1200 per kit and, like sagetrade, I think is part of other things now.
