Pdub and Roscon on the subject of medical support - sorry for off topic but it effects us all!
I have to say our experience has mainly been incredible! But in the end the journey is down to the people you meet and the surgeons, nurses and support workers. They do an incredible job, but in life there are always those who forgot why they went into the profession in the first place as in any walk of life!
I have the highest praise for the team who helped my Claire at Northampton General Hospital and then the consultants and n team in the ITU department at Leicester Royal Infirmary. They are beyond normal people there level of care and support is remarkable and as you would really expect and to think it is a free service in the UK is beyond amazing.
The only but, is the mix ups once you get onto standard wards. The communication between understaffed doctor, nurses and HCA's is frankly rather worrying. Unless you keep your eye on your loved one's medical needs, medication and points made by the consultants and doctors you could end up with medication and support missing. When a team works together and communication is good it is incredible when you have a team that has not worked together it is a disaster. In private healthcare, you get nice food, a nice room, and fast access to your consultants but when you need ITU the NHS has it sorted in my opinion.
Overall though I would say that without everything in place that the NHS provided my lovely Claire would not be home with me now. For that, I will be forever grateful for all who helped her.
Back to Bushy now!
