Model line up20 Jan 2022 18:31
It's been a quiet period regarding announcements from Laurence Stroll, but far better that statements regarding company performance come from Tobias Moers. He comes across as single minded and quite a task master, but undoubtedly his talents and structured approach has been needed and perhaps some people have left who were a little too comfortable in their positions.
Thankyou to TinyPie for bringing information of the straight 6 hybrid DBX to our notice. It's a sizeable price saving in China which surely opens another chapter in the evolution of the DBX. Impressive that AML could engineer, test and certify this model so quickly and it suggests there will be very good additional volumes to count upon this year.
We all have only a short time to wait for the performance or S version DBX and I'm sure a lot of buyers have been waiting for this model and YouTube will be full of videos before too long. Between the two derivatives there will be quite an acceleration in DBX sales this year, with more to come the year after in all probability.
I spent quite some time studying announcements for the past twelve months and it's interesting to see how efficient and trimmed the manufacturing process has become, with major cost savings throughout. To reduce the number of workstations in addition shows just how much fat was waiting to be trimmed.
I've always been struck how AML , even though they are a much smaller company, have managed the complexity, development and production of the Valkyrie ahead of Mercedes own hypercar with their far greater resources. The Valhalla which to my mind is the prettier and more useable car will be eagerly anticipated and AML now can give this vehicle attention and impetus with presumably a late 2023 production date planned.
Talking of dates, volumes and models, it's interesting to focus a little on what and which models are being assembled or are in the pipeline for the next two years as Aston move towards their 2025 target of 10,000 units.
Vantage V12 RS. 300 units.
DBX straight 6 hybrid. Unlimited.
DBX S performance. Unlimited ?
Valkyrie coupe, spider and AMR Pro. 275 units.
Valhalla. Maximum 1,000 units.
Heavily relaunched Vantage, DB11 and DBS. Unlimited.
The combined approximate value to the company of the Valkyrie, Valhalla and Vantage RS is approximately £1.4 Billion, running from now through to 2025 with the Valhalla. Initial wholesale figures for Q1 and Q2 2022 will be interesting as these will begin to show the impact of the DBX hybrid in China.
Will there be F1 editions of DB11 and DBX? Nothing so far announced and only approximately 12 months to the launch of the heavily revised Vantage, DB11 and DBX.
A lot to come and at some point will there be reference to the Lagonda brand. You wouldn't bet against it as a serious competitor to go up against Bentley would be mouthwatering, plus potential sales wouldn't detract much from the current Aston Martin model range.
