Tucked away at the foot of one of Thursday's papers was this little snippet.
Lamborghini racked up it's best September on record as is sold 738 cars. It shut production and offices in the worst of the pandemic, but roared back with over 2000 cars delivered in the third quarter.

It's a bit of a surprise that Vettel has made this public as he's a very private person. Mind you, if I had a company Vantage, I'd reveal my holding.

So now we have 2 F1 team owners, a 4 time F1 world champion and the ex head of AMG all involved with Aston Martin Lagonda. Plus the question mark over Andy Cowell and possibly another question mark over Adrian Newey. Would anyone like to surmise the next 6 months.

I presume someone on here works in the trade and knows a little about who pays for showroom and demonstrator cars. But AML have to provide models to the dealerships, even though the launches are all fazed. However, they are definitely not sales.

3300, difficult to gauge where we are on September registrations, but probably there's not been any benefit from Gaydon restarting, so UK figures are old stock and new DBX. I always felt that a significant part of early DBX production would be for dealerships and road test vehicles. Final quarter will very much be a more relevant figure.
Share price manipulation is very much leaving a bad taste and it also frustrates that Herr Moers has not formally spoken. There's an article in Autocar about the Speedster entering the final stage of it's test programme with deliveries starting next year. It's only worth £70 million in total, but probably very profitable. It's strange that he'll have been at AML for three and a half months before he makes his first public appearance.

The Valhallah uses the new V6 and this is still very much in development. I just think the time line, assuming the car is going ahead, will run through 2021 before deliveries reach customers. It is still a question mark as Valhallah involved the Red Bull operation and of course that is terminated at the end of 2020. Or, is Newey considering a position with the F1 operation and perhaps some overlap involved with high performance super/hypercars. Would Newey like to pen an electric hypercar.

Valkyrie and Speedster numbers are known, just a question whether the numbers can all be made in 2021,which I doubt. AML are not big enough to turn volumes of hand made cars.

Sports/GT numbers I have been cautious with. Heavy discounting in 2019 yielded disappointing figures and the long shut down with reduced personnel presupposes smaller volumes in the future. DB11 possibly needs a refresh as well.

DBX again is unknown. We have had no update on figures, just good reports. I would sooner be cautious and still have some very good figures for 2021 onwards. I don't think we will be disappointed, fingers crossed the pandemic leaves us alone.

I thought I'd look at next year's numbers, being a little bit conservative on DBX.

Speedster 88 at £765,000
DB5 Goldfinger 22 at £3.3 million
DBX 4500 at £175,000
Valkyrie 175 at £2.5 million
Sports/GT 3,500 at £160,000

That works out at 8,285 units with a value of £1,928 million.
If Speedster and Valkyrie volumes are split between 2021 and 2022 then next year's annual turnover comes in at £1,675 million. Still good figures compared to 2019.
I've not included Valhallah or Vanquish as with Stroll's involvement I really don't know where these models now sit. The Valhallah was a 500 limited run car with the in house V6 costing £1 million. The Vanquish was an unlimited production mid engined car. Maybe Herr Moers will provide a statement regarding these models in November.

There were probably 3 to 400 dealer showroom cars plus road test vehicles for the various markets. A lot of initial production will have had to go to the various launches around the world, including test drive vehicles.

If that were to be the case then F1 could be retitled Formula Mercedes. Hardly good for the sport.

3300, nothing sexist. AML were targeting women with some of the design aspects of the DBX. I suspect the sill less cabin entry has been noted by many potential buyers, men included.

Welcome to you, Mohson. Out of interest, what is the chat in Germany about the possibility of Mercedes strengthening links with AML. We're all pretty convinced over here, just a question of time.

Someone mentioned Hawes this morning. Certainly a biker heaven on a sunny day and about 10 miles from where I live. Another biker heaven is Kirkby Lonsdale and Devil's Bridge - also 10 miles away from me. This is often the start line for the bikers, but where a pitstop for butties occurs first.
Just a couple of miles from Hawes is the start of the road that goes up past Buttertubs. This is one of Clarkson's favourites and also the location of the Hotle where he punched the Top Gear producer.
Can anyone work out why countries throughout Europe, including Scotland, the Isle of Man and Ireland, close public roads for competition, but England doesn't.

Moers finally did make a statement over the weekend .........................................about the Vantage racing success at Le Mans!

Good morning 3300, I'm still half asleep after staying up all Saturday night. I couldn't drag myself away from the Le Mans coverage. A stupendous result. It would be interesting to see how the same sports paper celebrated the Ferrari victory at Le Mans in 2019.

Aston's success at Le Mans is even more significant as they have won the World Championship for GT Constructors and their
two teams of drivers will decide at the final round who becomes the Drivers World Champions. Neither Ferrari nor Porsche have any drivers who have suffifient points to compete for the Drivers title. So it's already a double World Championship achievement for Aston Martin.
In addition, the GTE AM victory for the TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage gives them the lead in the AM World Championship. Again, the title will be decided in the final round in November.
Congratulations to all concerned but particularly to Prodrive who prepare the cars and run the factory team. A great shame the event was closed to spectators as the Brits would normally have been there in their tens of thousands. Perhaps Stroll may become convinced of the need for Aston to continue to support their roots and in particular reconsider the Valkyrie project to come to Le Mans. With a British entry again half the crowd would come from the UK.
