The only reason (well, aside from being massively under water) I haven't sold is the GROC asset. I just don't see Alba making any serious money from the gold. The future value to the company of the gold project seems to be virtually zero, though there may be some money made to keep the lights on. That might sound a little pessimistic, but progress is so glacial that I cannot see a more positive outcome. Happy to hear any rebuttals to my thoughts.

That's not what a consolidation does. You will still own the same proportion of the company unless further new shares are issued.

I'm not saying that things with the company are fine, but a share consolidation is not fundamentally a bad thing in itself. It's what happens next that you need to worry about.

Everyone can see Trump's record and it isn't great. There may well be a ceasefire. But just like Trump's failures with NK, Iran, and Afghanistan that doesn't mean a lasting peace. BUT it might be enough to get out of this share.

I won't because it's depressing...

Actually, any educated Westerner knows of the role of the SOVIET UNION - not Russia as you mistakenly say - in defeating the Nazi's. We helped the Soviets greatly with materiel assistance, with merchant navy, Royal Navy, and airforce lives lost in defending Soviet land and supply routes from the initial attack. As the war progressed, the Soviet Union lost millions of lives in battle against the Axis powers. The great irony, give your rather ill-thought through post, is that Russia has rewritten history to airbrush out the Allied help they received for nationalistic purposes. Not an uncommon act for authoritarian regimes of course. So, thank you to all those people who lost their lives fighting an aggressor who invaded sovereign lands and subjugated free people. Sound familiar?

for those interested, the way diplomacy generally works in these cases is that negotiations go on for many months, usually years. it is not unusual for a release to be held up until a new leader is elected, so a regime can use it as a sweetener with them, rather than 'waste' it by timing the release during the tenure of the departing president. so credit goes mostly to those in the state department who've been working on this for a long time, with a bit of credit to trump's goons for not ****ing it up at the last minute.

Or what about a lots of smaller trades making up the volume of a large trade?
