We've have far worse days on the 'vitals' (Crude / Copper / Index / £) than this and had next to no SP movement, even sometimes positive. Not sure now why the SP is so depressed compared to its peer group. Obviously I wasn't expecting much of anything out of today as the markets are being spitroast between the superpowers but it it does feel we are 'getting hit' harder than most, which is odd after the a run of upbeat news.

China have 'let it be known' through their diplomatic sources that they are considering a tariff or even a ban on US crude imports. Trump will not want f88k the petro-dollar as the whole US economy is based on it. My guess is he thought they would ban Jim Beam and Levi Jeans but the Chinese know how to play hardball. My guess is that they will announce 'talks' in the coming days after considering some punitive levies.

C - It was dropping in anticipation of this announcements. 16 pence in one day (after a volley of good news) is bordering on stupid. Hopefully the market can take stock over the weekend and stop acting like a bunch of high school jerks over this stuff.

I would have thought by now that this tariff stuff was kind if priced in to some extent. This seems like a bit of an over reaction. Hopefully finish around 395 ish.

Curzon - The US futures looks a little subdued so you could be right. As long as either Trump or China don't release tariffs on what looks like a Glencore product catalogue, I think we'll be fine.

I don't know but at 10.15 someone sold £13m worth at 393.00. Which makes me think a broker has chased the price down to get the order. Good chance this will now spring back up to at least the high 390s over the next hour. That sell has soaked up many of the casual mid-level buys since 09.00

Glenda would have been better waiting for a blue day before announcing their big news.

Curzon - I don't think he'll fold - not his style. But there is a lot of interconnection between China and North Korea, so he might 'delay' the decision for a few weeks whilst all the background stuff happens.

It'll get there. Just hope Trump doesn't f8k it all up with those China tariffs.
