Sorry - that's simply not true. There is no official guidance in the UK about alcohol and the Covid19 vaccines in use.

Several special interest groups have advised against it - but that's their opinion, and not official advice issued by the NHS, DHSC or the vaccine manufacturers.

The only vaccine where it has been formally advised to avoid alcohol for a set period afterwards was the Russian Sputnik vaccine.

You seem to be making an assumption with little or no supporting evidence. The engineers were tested in the UK, in preparation for their return to Spain this week, and will be isolating in the UK.

You what? If the work was due to be completed this weekend (i.e. they were working over the weekend to complete it) then it would make perfect sense for the test to be taken on Friday, as they'd be completing the work and leaving at the beginning of this week.

As the vast amounts of unused PPE attest, the fact that the UK government orders more of it does not mean that it is fit for purpose.

That said, there is no question that the vaccines are working... what needs to be ascertained is how well, particularly as in the UK they are being administered outside their design and test parameters in a political theatre attempt to make it look as though more people are being vaccinated.

1: they’re antibody tests - not antigen tests.
2: they’re not licensed in the U.K. or subject to EUA
3: no antibody test is currently licensed for OTC sales in the U.K.

So either your mate is telling porkies or the pharmacist is breaking the law, in which case they should be reported.

That's an antibody test - not an antigen test.

They're not authorised for sale in the UK that I can see - never mind for home use.

I find that difficult to believe. Any CE marked medical device must carry a number of mandatory markings, either on the device itself or the packaging it is in:

- the CE mark itself
- the name/description of the device
- the name of the manufacturer
- the batch number and date of manufacture
- the expiry date
