That's not quite true... If the antibody test includes IgM it (as the Mologic/Visitect IgA, IgG and IgM Tripe Antibody test does) then it can detect infection at the earliest stages of infection - from Day 0 .

Can we stop posting old, out of date RNS' and articles? They don't add anything to the discussion.

I work in a senior national role in healthcare. My partner is a consultant at one of the leading NHS hospitals in the country.

What JAdams says is correct. By all measures the government handling of Covid19 has been a complete sh*tshow. The Department of Health & Social Care currently has the most incompetent and corrupt team of ministers in the history of the NHS.

Procurement law and basic good practice has been ignored, with contracts being handed to companies with no background in healthcare supply. We have clinical services being run by non-clinical organisations (which aren't registered with the appropriate regulators and haven't been inspected, so there normal safeguards around suitability and safety aren't there) and these services are failing by every measure.

Nothing to do with party politics. MPs from across the political spectrum are now saying the government's response has been woeful and - in certain respects - criminal.

There will be a reckoning...

Absolutely agree. ODX is a long term hold share - not a day trade share. The breadth of what is on offer is through ODX is the real strength here.

The univested trolls (we all know who they are) will be all over this BB today, spreading their usual shyte but it's just a case of ignoring their sad, ignorant mewlings... they'll soon bugger off to one of the other forums (you see the same names behaving the same way on the BBs for a number of diffferent stocks).

I think we need to be careful not to conflate/confuse the sample type (e.g. saliva or blood) with the test type (e.g. molecular, antigen or antibody).

We know the government are testing both saliva and blood tests. We know that the government are also testing all three test types.

Can't be Avacta's... as we don't actually have a test ready for external approval yet. We haven't even got as far as validation - that's just being started now.

The bulk of public Covid testing that's going on at the moment is being done in cars. The non-hospital/carehome/workplace test centres across the UK are in car parks.

My other half (a hospital consultant) is part of the Covid vaccine trials. He holds shares in AstraZeneca (as well as ODX).

I assumed we'd be going ahead with developing an antigen test/s (ELISA and/or LFA) but it's clear we haven't got there yet - we haven't even had an RNS for design freeze or external validation (both of which would need to happen before CE marking). It would be nice if we could get something at least to external validation stage by year end.

I think we need to be careful about talking about 'having' an antigen test until we get to at least the external validation stage. Otherwise, we'll end up like Avacta, with loads of people talking as if there is something ready to roll off the production line tomorrow when there isn't...

The presentation (slide 14) refers to three Covid tests:

- the UK-RTC antibody test
- the Covid ELISA antibody (the Mologic IgG test)
- the Covid ELISA antigen and Rapid test for antigen/antibody (the latter being the IgA, IgG and IgM Triple Antibody test)

The MTA in April referred to ELISA tests, which could include the ELISA antigen test referred to the presnetation but, to date, we have no published details of an antigen test (if we had one the various stages would have been RNSed as was done with the antibody tests). Neither does Mologic. What we do have is the triple antibody test being used as a proxy antigen diagnostic test as it measures IgA.

ODX doesn’t actually have a specific antigen test. It has two Mologic antibody tests (the IgG ELISA and the IgA, IgG and IgM Triple Antibody LFA test) and the UK-RTC antibody test. I think the confusion is coming because the Triple antibody test is being used as a proxy antigen test, as IgA antibodies show up early in the infection cycle.

I think you’re right though - antibody testing is here to stay and will increase over time. ODX, as a multi test prover, is in a very strong position.

I'm interested in seeing what will come of the WHO pre-qualification of the Visitect CD4 test. It's come at a very opportune time, as IGO/NGO budget allocations for 2021/22 will be being worked on over the next couple of months. I wouldn't be surprised to see some nice orders coming in.

Those are *******s statistics, as anyone with a basic grasp of epidemiology and the statistics would know. The death figures aren't going down because Covid is going away - they're going down as the testing protocols have changed and the way deaths are counted changed (to artificially lower the rates). Doctors are actively being discouraged from including Covid on death certificates.

It's also nonsense to compare death rates between seasonal flu and Covid 19 - they're completely different clinically.

The health service is gearing up for the second wave which, if international experience is repeated, will be worse - and the groups affected will change.

I think the confusion is that there are multiple tests that Omega is involved with and providing potential manufacturing capacity for:

- the Mologic Covid-19 IgG ELISA test (used on patient samples sent by hospitals or GPs for laboratory testing). This was the one with the MTA back in April which was CEd by ODX in April. This is the one that is approved for sale in India.

- the Mologic IgA, IgM and IgG COVID-19 Triple Anitbody Test. This is a Lateral Flow Assay POC test. This was the one CEd by Mologic in June but which has just been CEd by ODX under the Visitec label and is the subject of the RNS this morning.

- The UK-RTC IgG Antibody test. This was CEd by Abingdon Healthcare at the end of July for professional POC use. It is currently in the process of being approved for home use.

There's also reference to a Mologic antigen test - but I can't find any description/reference to it on the Mologic web-site other than in a press statement around the Heathrow Airport trials. From the description, I think its actually the Triple Antibody that's being referred to as IgM antibodies show up at the early stages of an active infection.

I'm in both. I'm increasing my holding of ODX, as it is (IMHO) a better long term hold. I won't be doing the same with my AVCT holding, which I don't believe has the same long term prospects.
