I'm not so sure it's down to some people believing SEE has lost contracts that it announced it anticipated to be concluded by the end of June, rather this is Summer and not only that but not news until now and that's a pretty good combination in which a share will drift.

Considering the (supposed) selling over the last few weeks I'm surprised it hasn't fallen further.

What the interviewer should have asked (but was ignorant of the facts, told not to ask or both) is 1. What if there are less than 3 providers of DMS? 2. In the light of technical issues that Audi are rumoured to be having, what if SEE has the only solution? The first question Ken wouldn't have been able to answer honestly (if in relation to safety DMS) as it would fly in the face his oft repeated 25% statement. At this present moment in time, there is a very limited number of providers of the type of DMS soon to be required in Europe, followed closely elsewhere (North America, Japan...), certainly below 3 and quite probably below 2. As for regulation lite areas, there is plenty of choice. So, if you're talking all DMS (convenience and safety) there will be at least 4 suppliers with the only provider of safety DMS having a Mobileye type share of the total DMS market. Going full circle, you could say Ken was correct about number of DMS suppliers but with tongue very firmly in cheek.

Ken's playing the party line. Regardless of whether OEM's like it or not, what are they to do if they want safety DMS? Wait until there are other providers? No, they will get round it by using different Tier 1's.

Yes, it's poor that we have had only two from six but no one else has issued RNS claiming to have won them, and I don't expect some other company to either. No one has yet to name a provider that also can do safety DMS (and no, SmartEye isn't one) so the OEM's do what OEM's do, drag it on and on using any number of excuses to delay ie price, NCAP, EU legislation, the high pollen levels, etc etc.
One interesting take from Semicast's article regarding the clear leader in DMS is SEE posted it on numerous media outlets whilst SmartEye, well known for being PR savvy, and named in the article, neither responded or reposted....

Fleet has certainly had it's (bad) moments but there are clear indications it's turned the corner and will provide invaluable income before auto kicks off. Don't be surprised when there is positive news about Fleet, there are plenty of clues about. Concentrate on auto?

I think there's a bit of playing it safe by a certain market analyst who publicly stated (he put the details in a table) that there was only one DMS that is safety, the rest are convenience and I haven't seen any indication that he's changed his mind. Although he's correct that the rest will be fighting over the OEM's who want convenience in lightly regulated areas.

Yes, got to feel for LTHs there. Saying that, as always this is market makers having fun, the SP was a lot higher than it is now pre US customer. I'd agree with the posters on the board, it's way over done and should bounce next week. The problem with NANO is it has yet to establish a solid base for it's product which considering legislation is going against cadmium I think it's only a question of time and good luck to them. Sound familiar? Well, yes, but SEE is a lot further down the road than Nano and some people may see similarities between Nano's CEO and SEEs ex CEO but only in passing.

Bud Indeed but it will still be safety DMS. I don't believe SEE would want to damage the brand by competing for convenience DMS and SEE would have to really go bottom fishing to compete in that pond. If its anything to go by SEYE are charging 4 euros per vehicle if its Nissan or 8 euros if its Mitsubishi for its latest win, apparently against stiff (non SEE) competition. So, even with a stripped down safety DMS I think SEE couldn't get that low and wouldn't even try.

S7 I couldn't agree more, SEE for safety and SEYE or any one of a number of suppliers for convenience DMS. Of course, SEE don't bid for convenience anyway so no loss to SEE, let the others fight over the rest.
