On a serious note, what did you pay? I've been waiting to average down from my 3.9-ish pence and was hoping for a better price. Not sure if I'll see it before the results so may just take the plunge.

From the October 20th RNS:

"Industry-standard valuation indicators for 100% of Tulu Kapi building up to US$1.1-2.7 billion on successful start-up. This implies a KEFI beneficial interest of US$740-2,292 million if we retain a beneficial interest for KEFI within the range of 70-85%, which will be determined by negotiations currently underway to optimize the structuring of the equity risk capital."

So it's not about equity, it's about 'beneficial interest' to KEFI in the TK project. Couldn't be any clearer....

If you watch Bloomberg TV check out this week's WallStreet Week. There's an interesting article on protein in the diet and how the US market caters for that demand. It starts about 40 minutes into the hour-long show.

Among other things it suggests that those taking GLP-1 (weight-loss) drugs may need to supplement their diet with protein because one of the many side-effects can be the loss of muscle tissue. With so many people now taking weight-loss drugs it could really boost the protein supplement market.

I don't know anyone taking the drugs so have not had a chance to ask if this is much of an issue, or how they deal with it. Anyone else have any experience?

Something to ponder while we wait for those two events...

Here's a contrarian view:

Rachel sticks it up us good 'n' proper in the budget (nothing contrarian in that I hear you say) but if the markets can see through the short term effects, and like the long term impact (i.e. reduced deficits and lower future borrowing costs) then divi payers like LGEN will become more attractive. Often things don't turn out the way you expect them to.

I don't really believe it myself, though. Otherwise I would be deploying some of my cash here before the budget - and I'm not. However, that's mainly because the current government (in fact most of the current crop of politicians for that matter) have very little credibility, and rightly so. They seem incapable of getting us out of the mess we are currently in. At least not until they are forced into making the right decision, and that's when it will most likely all come tumbling down.

I have no idea when that day of reckoning will come, but it would be nice to have a bit of cash at the ready for that when it does.

I've just watched Rachel and to be honest I can't understand the point of it. Maybe it's just me? There was nothing new in there, just the usual blaming everyone and everything else for the current situation. What an absolute waste of time.

I'm on II and there's been no change. They are still listed, in my ISA and SIPP, but valued at zero, as they have been foe quite a while.

They have an opportunity to kitchen sink the accounts. My fear is they might take it.

From the last RNS:

"The equity-capital arrangements about to be implemented are expected to reduce KEFI shareholders' beneficial interest in the Project to the range of 70-85%"

Three-times over-subscribed will probably be at the lower (70%) end - who wouldn't want in at that price? At the 85% end there may not be so many takers. We shall have to wait and see what percentage is agreed upon, and that will have a large impact on the SP reaction to the next RNS. Somewhere near the middle is my guess, and that would be better than nothing. Anything lower than that would be a disappointment but anything higher would be a bonus.

Fingers crossed Harry can get us a good deal.

One man's person "with the broadest shoulders" is another man's person "who can be bothered to get up in the morning and go to work". I just feel like I am being punished for doing the right thing, again.

Politics aside, I wouldn't mind what I pay, or even the bit more I am likely to be asked to pay in the next budget, if it was at least being spent wisely. Governments of all colours are equally culpable. And like it or not, we are likely to find out how wisely (or not) the Reform party will spend out hard-earned money after the next General Election. I very much doubt it will be much different.

As for LGEN I'm holding off buying more for now. I think there will be better opportunities, be that after the Budget or some other catalyst. If it doesn't happen then the money will be deployed elsewhere.

I'm not disputing that Maverick, but where is it written down? I can't find it anywhere.

All I can find is GENL's own accounts of their outstanding receivables, and it's not that much.

A genuine question so please don't shoot the messenger.

Where does it say that GENL are entitled to 25% of the $300m outstanding to DNO? According to GENL their outstanding receivables are lower than that, and are being whittled away from the payments they receive directly for the oil sold locally.

Does anyone have a better idea of how much GENL are owed?

Just to lighten the tone a bit before SD does his thing later tonight (UK-time), I have been on the hunt for a personalised registration for my car. Nothing flash or silly, more like something to hide how old the damn thing is to be honest. I can't remember if it was on this or the SOLG board that someone was bragging that they'd made so much money from their investment that they were going to buy a brand new Aston Martin or something like that. If it's any consolation, which I doubt under the circumstances, I too have been battered by TLW. I was foolish enough to follow RG all the way down. I just couldn't understand what he was seeing and I was missing - he had to know something that kept him topping up as the SP dropped lower and lower. Maybe that is still true, only RG knows it seems? Buy whatever it may be I still can't fathom it out. The guy seems to be a complete idiot, and I'm even more of a fool for following him.

Another (painful) lesson learned for me...
