A while back I posted a link from Innovate UK who are funding a lot of potential conversion processes for making SAF. I can't find it now, but will have a proper look.

Even the military are being told they have to use SAF!

It's quite a good site for finding start-ups that are getting serious funding, as a few go on to have successful IPO's; if you want to invest.

PHE have to start somewhere and I suspect they will target plastic, but have other feed stocks in their sights; hence the Patent being left open for other materials. Customers won't see that; they'll see the PR, Marketing and Bus Dev within each sector.

Test - I agree, they've always been ambiguous about exactly what they're planning to recycle. Plastic has always been the main focus, presumably as it's one of the hardest waste products to deal with.

My personal opinion, is they will be doing feed tests on plastic first, as this gives them something to report on/promote/sell/develop; hopefully bolstering the SP.

Once those tests are completed, I imagine they will be keen to run feedstock tests on other waste to see how it performs and what off takes they get from these.

I notice there's a lot of companies currently developing processes to generate SAF from 'waste 5hit' - so to speak!

I'm all for it for many reasons, but we shouldn't be relying on restoring the countryside to be the main way to capture carbon. This should be done at source with changes in technology and processes, as PHE are trying to do; along with retro-fitting CC to existing plants and facilities as part of it.

Peatland in this country (which is hugely valuable in it's owed right) has been degraded by 80% over the years, due to commercial mining of it for horticulture, whiskey and fuel.

Having a biodiverse land mix will help reduce wildfires, because the ground will help retain moisture. If you look at moor fires, they get out of control easily now, because the land is like tinder and over run with bracken. Having a diverse vegetation mix will help retain some moisture in the ground.

Fortunately / thankfully we're very different to the LA, but yes, there's lots of different points of view on the subject - before Dusty accuses me of forcing my opinion on you etc :)
