Interesting that Alharam's report states that we produced 551,036oz for 2016. - That can't be right, or is it a slip of the tongue. - Do they mean 2017? - If they do, how can they know? - It'll be interesting to compare the final figure with this apparent gaff.

For what it's worth, we ended the year breaking above 200dma. - First time since August.

Year on year 2016-2017 - the SP finished +14% with a dividend yield of 9%. - All in all a good year considering we have been travelling with the hand0brake on for most of it. - Good luck all for 2018

Friday 30/12/16 - Centamin closed at 138.5 - Gold closed at $1158.7 A few days still to go this year, but, closing the year at say 150 would give us an approx. 8% uplift in the SP, plus of course, the large dividends. - In spite of the frustrations, I can think of worse situations to be in.

What about Centamin's attitude towards what's happening or in this case what's not happening? - You would have thought that they would be using very tool in the box to bring about a conclusion to the whole sorry affair. - Unless I've missed something, not a peep! - Other than a casual mention in old minutes, they appear not to be interested in prosecuting their own case. - In short, they appear to have no appetite for vigorously seeking redress. - Am I alone in thinking this?

One aspect of the situation is that having accepted an IMF loan then behind the scenes the U.S. is pulling the strings. - To this end it will depend on how much Egypt is to be used as a puppet in the greater middle-east story. 2018 is certainly going to be very interesting on several fronts. - IMO

Gov. are proposing workplace pensions to now start at age 18 rather than the present age 22 qualification. - I believe this proposal might have more to do with the state the pension-industry is currently in rather than what's good for 18 year olds. - Personally I find it an interesting development and am very suspicious of it's motives.

Razor - If it turns out that Centamin becomes the prey, stabbing at a wild-arse guess, I would say a premium of between 70% and 100% of the present SP. - Given the extremely low/distorted current SP, I would be disappointed at anything less.

Razor - hi Yes another good question. - I wish I knew the answer. - Usually there is a formulae an equation whatever, that is used to calculate value. It varies from industry to industry. Some valuations are based on turnover, some on profit, I believe value of gold in the ground is a consideration when it comes to precious metals mining, but to be honest with you I really don't know. - There are some very knowledgeable posters on here with experience in the industry who might be able to answer your question. - I hope we can hear from them. - In Centamins case there appears to be value everywhere. Notwithstanding it's hefty bank balance and a debt-free balance-sheet, it's free cash-flow generation, it's growth potential stretching way out into the distance and some of the lowest costs in the industry. West Africa etc. - I mean where do you start. - Actually the more I post here the more I would like to hear from those with better knowledge/experience than me. - Come on guys, let's hear what you think. :-)- cheers.

Indeed a good question. - I would have to say that given the Financial strength of Centamin, it's hefty bank-balance, strength and outlook going forward, they would be the predator. They are holding all the right cards at this time and in a perfect position to seek acquisitions. - If it transpires that they are the prey, then pretty deep pockets will be required to take control. - IMO

Hi Tibbs Yes I had the foresight to judge that Bitcoin had a story and a journey. - But, I never envisaged that it would reach this stage so quickly. - The situation I find myself in now is pure luck. - The only mitigating factor is that over the many years of my journey through the investment world I've learned some valuable lessons. I've learned that mind-set is very important and within that mind-set, if you can trust your judgement and embrace patience and discipline, and I emphasise these two attributes plus a bit of luck, you'll probably come out ahead. - I've noticed on this board there are those who espouse great-wisdom and yet have neither patience nor discipline and as a result behave like novices. - All I will say is good luck to that because you're gonna need it.

Thanks again tricky. - We were at cross purposes. - I've only ever held actual bitcoin in my own wallet and bought and sold from that - Doing it that way has resulted in unbelievable gains, frankly, I wouldn't do it any other way. - Buy the crypto itself and establish it in a wallet that you control, that would be my advice to anyone considering entering the market.

Tricky - thanks So you don't actually hold the coin itself but rather trade it's movement in price through etoro etc. - Is that right?
