Hedgehogg - hi I think you'll find that the super-divi was paid on March 31st last year, thus falling into the 2016 tax-year.

Hi spot. - There is a further far more powerful motivation than avoiding embarrassment. - They would receive 50% of it! - Tibbs - That's a good suggestion, although now that the decision is official, I doubt they can reverse it.

From my own point of view, I would have preferred the funds had been used to enhance the SP through a share-buy-back rather than through the dividend. That way we can decide whether we sell them and pay tax or hang on and accept the growth tax-free. - Rolling this years dividend over into next years tax-year, thus inflating our liability for next year, is something that is entirely out of our control. - I believe that most UK investors here, will, in the course of their decision making process, include UK tax-allowances as part of their strategic thinking. - To this extent, the decision to roll it over is something that hasn't been thought through in my opinion. - Would welcome all views on this, especially those that will shoot me down in flames. - cheers.

Hi Robbie - If the 2018 divi is paid in 2018 then this 2017 divi will be added to the total. - It'll have to be a helluva rate of return to compensate for the higher 32.5% band. - I can't see it, it doesn't make sense to me. - We will effectively be losing some of our 2017 offset allowances.

Last year div was paid 31/3. - It surely has to be paid within the tax year. -If it isn't , the tax implications for next year could be quite punishing with the triggering of the higher-rate band on all of it.

All the cryptos are engaged in millions of micro-transactions everyday, especially Bitcoin which is infinitesimally divisible. -

Thanks Tibbs Let's hope it goes better than the last attempt. - You may recall the ABX backed 'Bullion coin' last August when the plug was pulled on the eve of launch. - Andrew Maguire had actually gone out on a limb and named the date. - David Gibson was the man behind Bullion coin but I've not seen his name connected with the new product. - One interesting point that I picked up on was that one of the world's top mobile banks is on board as part of the architecture involved in transferring the kinesis crypto coin. - I'm just guessing, but I wouldn't mind a little wager that it might be 'Ripple' - Now as an owner of Ripple XRP that would be of great interest to me and a motivation to acquire more Ripple on the basis of the knock-on effect. - We'll see.

Mizolgit - hi Do you think the fact that crypto is falling is clouding my judgement re the CC? - :-) - I'm not aware that it is, sublimely it might be I suppose, but when you've paid as little as $50 for some of the bitcoins you hold, depression is not how I would describe my state of mind, if indeed that's what you are suggesting. - Time is an important part of the equation in everything you do and In every investment that you make. - That one day it all comes to an end is a given. - In that regard there's no difference between crypto and anything else. - Investors in the Big banks, Equitable Life, Enron, Marconi, Railtrack and so on and so on, are all testament to this fact. spot - hi I hadn't considered that the CC had acted as a deterrent against possible predators. - I think it's a good point. - Almost a page out of 'Game theory'.

Tibbs - hi Re the court case, I think we can forget it, I am now firmly convinced it's not going to happen. - Taking account of the severe wounds the CC has inflicted upon the state and status of Centamin and it's shareholders and the fact that Centamin itself has had no appetite for prosecuting it's own case, I've formed a suspicion that there's more to it than we know. - The fact that Centamin is taking it all lying down and for all these years, tells me that something is not quite right.
