Investors engaged in timings here, with a bit of skill and a bit of luck, could have done very well. If so, well done and good luck. - Although timings influenced by company statements and perceived direction could well have gone awry. - By contrast, buy and hold investors are being slaughtered - The periodic collapse in market-cap is something to behold. In all fairness there has been volatility in the sector as a whole for some time now. However, Centamin as a profitable producer, producing free cash flow with the added security of being un-hedged, debt-free and having substantial funds banked, towers above many of it's peers. - How is it that their fate bears no comparison to what is happening at Centamin? What is it about Centamin that commands such destruction?

I've already asked this question but since I got no reply I'll ask again. - Where are the directors based? - Where do they turn-up for work every day? - I have a feeling it's not Sukari and therein might be part of the problem.

Most of the shares held by PI's are held in 'Nominee' therefore any e-mails sent cannot be tied-in to a specific shareholder. In fact, anybody can send an e-mail claiming to be a shareholder without the company being able to verify the fact. - It might account for their refusal to reply. - The 'Nominee' the 'Broker' is the one that should communicate complaints, whereupon they would have to respond. - So, a campaign communicating with our 'Brokers' might carry more weight and produce results.- As I hold share-certificates I am able to indicate my unique 'Shareholder reference number' (SRN) confirming that I am a registered shareholder. Impossible if you are a 'Nominee' I should imagine that if sufficient numbers campaign through their brokers there would have to be a response. - Just a thought.

Nothing seems to have gone right since the remuneration rejection at last years AGM. - Are they putting 'the boot in'? - Is what's going on their way of getting their own back? - Fanciful I know, but it makes you think. :-)

Hi casparoni - 'Something to cling on to'. - It's just my view, but the best chance of some sort of recovery I feel, price of gold apart, is at the very least to hit the top-end of Q1 forecast and come in at 115k oz. 116 or more would be even better, If we can achieve this, plus an increased outlook for Q2, the tide should turn. - Do you believe in miracles? :-)

Silence has been noticeable for some considerable time. - They suddenly went silent on weekly shipment news. Hitherto, it was news by which we were able to set our 'Decision compass' - Not anymore. - Deceit also seems to have come into play as part of their discourse with shareholders. - Just look at the statements that accompanied Q4 period and what we were told about going forward for the next three years. - So, silences and deceit have become the instruments of choice in their dealings with shareholders. IMO

Hi halfpenny - Peel Hunt are analysts covering Centamin I believe so their opinion does carry some weight. - I was expecting a low-ball forecast for 2019 if for no other reason than to create some wriggle room after the shambles of 2018. - Wrongly, I calculated that the forecast would be based upon Q4 production and the story supporting said production. Namely, grades had recovered and our production problems were behind us. - I believe this was the general consensus. However, Q1-19 forecast has dashed that reasoning. For me at any rate. - What happened to the progressive improvement in output leading into the end of the year? - Where did Q4 output come from and why could it not continue into the next quarter? I mean, the forecast for Q1 is almost an act of sabotage that has set the scene for an uncertain 2019 and the markets have acted accordingly. - I'm beginning to ask myself, 'Was it deliberate'?- What is going on? - So, whilst I appreciate the comments made by Peel Hunt, I will not be using them in any of my judgement calls. - cheers

Much depends now on Q2 I feel, insofar as SP recovery is concerned. However, it's not a given that Q2 will be any better than Q1. Actually, at this moment in time, there's no reason to think it will be. That's my fear. - We thought production setbacks were behind us, that grade problems were being solved, even the newspaper columnists thought the same and became bold with their predictions. - However, we will see. - Good luck.

Since mining costs are a product of production, much depends on output. Increasing production lowers cost and vice-versa falling production.

One of the things I'll be looking-out for is action by any of the directors, especially Josef.

Recovery of the SP in the short term has bee made difficult by the expected shortfall in Q1 production figures. Bearing in mind that the forecast was made almost 2/3rds into the quarter, so I'm figuring they are going to be pretty accurate. This for me has closed the door on any short to medium term recovery. Once we have the figures and a new forecast for Q2 as a tester, we might then hope for things to improve. Talking of which, do we have a date for Q1 prelims?

Hi notperfect - Thanks for that, I know last year it was due on March 31st which turned out to be Good Friday so it was delayed until the following Friday 6th April. - I must admit I hadn't realised it had previously been paid in May. - I'll sleep a bit easier now. - cheers.

We had a statement Last May that we were supposed to believe which within 3 weeks turned-out not to be true. - Why do you think there is a 2 month delay in making the dividend payment this year? Just a mischievous comment here. - With so much wealth behind them, why is there an almost two-month delay this year in paying-out the dividend? It's usually paid in March, this year it's May. - What's the problem? - Are they short of cash? -I'm being serious by the way. Think about it. A two-month delay. What happens in life if you're two-months behind with payments? Am I the only one that's picked up on this?

Hi Tiger - Yes, I understand the 'Algo' effect where programmed chasing comes into play resulting in a domino/cascading event, the likes of which was probably in play yesterday.
