These patients haven't been dosed with Scib1 for years. The fact that they are still alive is perhaps indicative of a strong pool of memory T Cells. If this is so, then it augurs well for a similar situation with covidity.

20 minutes is far from enough time to explain everything that is going on at Scancell.

What Scancell will be doing is comparing T Cell and antibody levels against data published for approved vaccines. She had already done this on the animal experiments and stated that the data was better than the equivalent animal data for approved vaccines.
Lindy has previously stated that the N protein is particularly immunogenic so targeting it has the potential to have an effect against not just against covid19 but any coronavirus.
The other great advantage of an immunobody vaccine is that it is easy to add new targets.

My understanding is that the phase 1 trial of covidity will not prove the effectiveness against Covid19. The aims are to prove it is safe and to collect data about the levels of appropriate antibodies and T Cells.

I agree Kash. The trial will take a minimum of 6 months and IMO will certainly take longer.
Judging by the timing of that advert, it looks like they have not yet recruited 40 volunteers.
My understanding is also that, from slide 16, the 6 months starts when all 40 have received their first jab.

This shows a 6 month trial and I recall that Lindy said that this is a minimum.
Then I think she said 6 weeks to collate and publish results.
Only at that point would Scancell be looking to partner up.
Having said that they may well have had preliminary discussions with possible partners.

As far as we are concerned, we may not hear anything until after results are published.

The same slide also shows the UK arm of the trial (Scov2 as booster). With its positioning on the slide does this mean it is due to start some point after the dosing of Scov1 in SA has finished on all 40 patients? So we may get news of the UK ARM starting and that may also be a good indication that the SA trial is going to plan.

With each variant of concern, governments are giving knee jerk reactions that in the main are too late like talking about closing borders.
There does not seem to be any sense of urgency in looking for a permanent solution. The emphasis seems to be on adjusting the current vaccines, if any emphasis exists at all.
It appears that Scancell, with a potential solution, are genuinely under the radar.

You do of course realise that Scancell have a state of the art research lab in Nottingham's Boidiscovery Centre. The new Oxford lab is in addition to the research lab and is for Scancell's development and clinical trial teams.

We were all frustrated in the length of time it took to complete the manufacture of Modi1 and hence get it into the clinic.

It was interesting listening to Adrian Parry at 3:10 taking about the formulation laboratory and how it should help speed up the whole process of manufacture.
So let's see how long it takes to get Modi2 into the clinic.

So Lindy is saying quite clearly and with emphasis that Scancell now have 7 platforms (Immunobody, Moditope and the 5 glycans mAbs) and arguably 8 if Avidimab is also considered as a separate platform.
In addition, there is the potential for many more platforms in the future as Avidimab is combined with any mAb or vaccine!

Remember that Avidimab
a) Gives non covalent bonding between neighbouring antibodies. My understanding is that this "holding of hands" of antibodies means that the antibodies have the potential to attack the target in unison making it harder for the target to escape.
b) It has now been extended to any vaccine!
c) It has the ability to combine with an ADC which can be an agent to kill the target cell. This makes it a combination treatment in its own right since we have the action of the mAb or the vaccine (now enhanced by the non covalent bonding) and also the killing action of an ADC

So, no wonder Lindy was not willing to accept low values deals. The potential is enormous.
Lindy already knows the potential effect of Avidimab from the animal experiments of Covidity. Then there are also the animal experiments of Avidimab with the glycans mAbs. These are now being conducted with an ADC as evidenced by the recent paper that Lindy published.

So, why deal now when the evidence is growing on the utility of Avidimab and its potential effectiveness.
IMO Lindy will wait for the Covidity publication due after the SA phase 1 trial before even considering a deal. Meanwhile the research on Avidimab continues and no doubt we will see more publications and presentations at conferences.

So consider what Lindy has achieved with the glycans mAbs and Avidimab since that low key announcement of Scancell taking over these mAbs from Nottingham University.
