Possibly it is more important to look what the new starters are expected to do
The first vacancy seems to be all about analysing and compiling patient data from the 3 trials. This is possibly a good sign that the trials are going as expected.
"Key duties and responsibilities:
Perform immunology-based assays such as T cell culture, ELISpot assay, flow cytometry, cell killing, multiplex assays using the Mesoscale discovery platform.
Perform T cell-based assays, including isolation and culture of T cells from tumours or peripheral blood samples.
Perform immunological assays on clinical trial samples in accordance with the clinical trial study protocols.
Take a lead role in the management of patient sample analysis, planning and coordinating assays/resources.
Conduct comprehensive data analysis, data presentation, report writing and communication of results.
Be responsible for line management of a technician."
The second vacancy is about the testing of NEW Glycans mAbs.
"Key duties and responsibilities:
Design and execute experiments to generate new GlyMab® mAbs using standard hybridoma as well B cell repertoire mining technologies
Validation of mAb target binding (ELISA and Biacore) and target distribution (cell-based and immunohistochemical analyses)
Analyses of in vitro and in vivo mAb-mediated tumour killing through a range of mAb formats
Data analysis as well as recording and presenting results
Frequent review of relevant literature to contribute to project progression"
So let's not get hung up on numbers of employees and focus more on what the new employees are expected to do.
Both roles are very interesting and the second shows that the science is still expanding. Also remember that, if Scancell's policy remains the same, the Glycans mAbs are all aimed at pre-clinical deals (apart from the TCB antibody aspect for which Scancell intend to move into the clinic)
