Avidimab thoughts6 Sep 2019 15:52
Just pondering a few things since the Avidimab RNS - Given that the science in it is a 'booster' to an antibody (and setting aside its potential applications to Scancell's own products), that means in very simple terms that anyone who wants their current antibody treatment to have added avidity can experiment with Avidimab as a 'bolt-on to that established treatment. Therefore the ability to go into a non-exclusive partnership is presumably pretty tempting if it looks right, and initial outlay would be relatively small to the existing manufacturer, but if the Avidimab technology worked for them, not only would it add significant avidity to an already (potentially) proven product, but it would also allow the restart of all patent timings with a new formulation of a known drug which would, all being well, allow the manufacturer exclusive protected rights while also leaving all generics of the old formulation way behind and potentially redundant. Extrapolating that further, such agreements would provide a basic upfront payment to Scancell, ensuring enduring financial stability. Now wouldn't that be a great situation,? And if my ponderings are correct, or in the right area, what would that do to the SP I wonder. Not crystal-balling, just thinking aloud, and ready for correction, expansion or shooting down in flames.
