Hi JN, the lack of ratification so far is due to a combination of many factors in which the majority currently does not have a weigh in (to sum up, the Ghanaian parliament is extremely ineffective and dysfunctional). I will leave it at that and let you do your own research on that matter :)

Even if the ratification would not take place during the next sitting (which I found unlikely), what would happen then - would Ghana kill its lithium industry even before it started? The country needs the revenue, not only from ALL but from any other companies that decide to mine critical minerals over there

Unfortunately he talks too much sometimes. A lot of the transformational stuff is hanging on the Ratification: MIIF further investiment, comms of the offtake agreement, when Operational Permit (once the EPA is issued). We are being held hostages by the Parliament of Ghana

I agree. It will be interesting to see what will happen once the EPA permit is issued; the only thing missing to get the Operational Permit will be the ratification - will they get on with it knowing that any delays to building/production will be solely their responsibility (if they don't sort out ratification soon)? Not a good look to any country

What a s**t show. Time for the chairman to step up and do some real work rather than boasting about a 'transformational end of July' - this has transformed into everybody's worst nightmare. If this things stay as they are, I am definitely voting against Neil/Amanda's wage when October comes. It is time to step up mr Chairman

I think Neil and Amanda should take part a significant part of the blame on the ongoing drop...when Amanda states on Noosa conference something as the "ratification is taking place next week" (clueless comment) and Neil states something as "July is going to be a transformational month to ALL" (reckless comment), surely you have to rethink your comms strategy to avoid such a s**t show from happening again

And you, Not2sure, what is your knowledge on he current state of political play in Ghana at the moment? Have you heard any noise from the NDC on this matter, since early December, when they actually found out that the owner of the land where the Ewoyaa project is based (and with plenty of interest on the project) is related to the NDC?

i view the parliament xmas break as a blessing in disguise....the noise around the deal has significantly reduced in the last few weeks. the comments from the ndc on this have been very few in recent weeks (aside from the one that ***askidney pointed out yesterday i can't recall anything else in the last 3 weeks).

nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the ndc will be voting (as their leader was schmoozing with south korean and canadian businesspeople a few months ago inviting them to invest in the lithium industry in ghana). might be a tight vote, but i think it will get ratified in the end (it should pass in parliament in the same way that other recent bills have - voted for by the majority and voted against by the minority)

I share the same opinion - the last time I heard the opposition/minority criticising the deal was on the 14th December. And as a consequence, this silence might be weakening the critical stance from CSOs, academics, individuals, etc. But we shall see what is happening in the following weeks!!!

There would always be people or entities in Ghana disagreeing with the deal, and probably a lot of them expressing their opinions for political reasons. However, I must admit that these voices of dissent are making me more wary that the ratification might not be as straightforward as it might seem - or am I being too negative? Is the ratification in the parliament in the bag? Opinions welcome

So they could issue one to Lusorecursos also ASAP (without any legs to stand on). Whether you like or not, unfortunately this is going to be a long and painful process
