@StrummerJones, unfortunately it is highly likely that the NDC will win the next election, according to the polls. The local MP is from the NPP, but the project has the potential to impact the majority of the central region, where there are MPs of both parties.

Regarding ratification in the coming weeks, I would thank there's a 50:50 chance of happening. The problem is to understand what will happen on Tuesday, as it could end up in a fight between MPs - but I am sure the NPP will want to get on the job, as they need to show that they actually did some good for the country

The issues portrayed on the BBC article are about illegal mining, AKA galamsey. It has nothing to do with ALL

@Bassethd I am not saying that they are not eager, but NH approach in July was 'I have been told by the Head of MIIF and the Mining Commission that the ratification should take place anytime soon' - when you get paid a fortune like he does, you have to do a bit more than just assume because some people have told you it would happen, you have to show that you are worth what you are paid. He should be more present in Ghana

Unless they get ratification before the dissolution of the parliament, their performance (ratification being the yardstick of their performance) will get questioned at the AGM and they will get the second vote against their current wage package - isn't the second vote against the trigger to review wages? That should keep them eager to get ratification now, I think!

True Longterm, however the 'new' majority still managed to play games within the committee, such as their MPs in the committee boycotting the stakeholder engagement meeting (using as the excuse the extraordinary parliamentary session taking place on the same day) - childish tactics

Somebody enlighten me please, what should NH doing right now? Do you contact both parties directly, do you call the ambassador (or the equivalent in Accra) and tell her to pull some strings, do you go to Ghana and try to sit with the parliament commission responsible for reviewing the rat, or do you simply sit and wait for 6 more months? Tomorrow will be one year since ML

It won't be ratified today, that's for sure. Session has not even started (it should have started in the morning). They spend half of the time dealing with nuisances and the other half finding ways to skive. It's pathetic

So...

1. Minority can become majority in the coming days

2. Ratification committee is made of approx 20 MPs (approx 10 NPP and 10 NDC), and should make their recommendations to the parliament anytime soon

3. NDC boycotted the stakeholder engagement because it "clashed" with an extraordinary parliamentary session

4. ALL has done everything what was requested from them and has all regulatory approvals in place

Where does that leave us?
