RE: Air travel13 Jun 2020 09:45
a type of “tested negative” passport will be required in my opinion to increase air travel numbers. I don’t think it will be for the airlines but for the airports to resolve the logistics. I think there will independent test companies set up; some probably aligned with carparks and some airport hotels. It would not work as part of the airline 90min -2hr process. I think it will be for each person to arrange with one of the many satellite test stations around the airport or perhaps local to their homes. Results would go in to a central database that airlines can access at check in process. It will be for individuals to have this test ahead of travel, obviously the closer you leave it, the more risk of spoiling your holiday. I think we will just have to accept the risk of someone contracting the virus in the time between test and making it to check in. But if you set a time stamp on the test of no more than 12hr or 24hrs i think that is practicable. The only way to deal with the volume will be for satellite tests stations as part of current businesses as i said above like airport hotels and carparks, drop car, get tested, get results on you mobile and in database for airline check in.
