I think you mean 'spooked' - spiked means buying on a short-lived spike.

Lots of buys in the £000s going through. Upward pressure mounting.

Brokers that don't charge a transaction fee make their money somehow, usually on wider spreads. I use Hargreaves Lansdown and AJ Bell, and my trades only cost £5 or £6, but with a narrower spread, it'll comes out in the wash.

When I get a massive rise on a stock, I always sell a proportion (usually 50%) so I've locked in and banked some of the profit. If it drops, heads I win; if it carries on rising, tails I win!

Currently around $8; spiked earlier at nearly $12.

It's yo-yoing like crazy. Literally within minutes it's rising and falling by 20p or more. We need some stability.

Bear in mind when stock markets go south and the economy weakens, people find a refuge in gold. Gold slightly down on the day, but still riding high.

A rising SP on poor results is not uncommon (as is a falling SP on good results); it all depends what the market has already anticipated and factored into the SP. A rising SP here is the market's view that things will mightily improve.
