As a fairly recently fledged investor, this has happened to me so many times - bought a stock, then the price slumps. There are three responses: sell at a loss; do nothing, in the hope that it will recover; or, buy more. I never do the first. The last one has served me so well (although I don't automatically do it). Sometimes even a modest recovery can wipe out your losses on the original purchase quite quickly, and just imagine how much you make if the price recovers to beyond what you originally paid.
