CHANNEL 4: Alex Mahon, the chief executive of Channel 4, has said that government plans to prohibit the advertising of junk food before the 21h00 watershed could cost the broadcaster as much as £40 million per annum. She also suggested that the advertisers would simply move to YouTube and Facebook. Mahon told a committee of MPs: “Young people are often watching on digital platforms now, where they are hyper-targeted. From an advertiser perspective, they might just put that [TV advertising] money into the digital platforms where that can really, really target young people. The government needs to make sure changes don't have consequences that are worse than the current situation.
H-Hi, why would Comcast buy ITV if they lost out on Sky? Sky are a telecoms / tech business with access into millions of peoples homes across Europe via a set top box, fixed and mobile telephone lines. ITV are not in the same business.
