China is getting oil from Iran via the straits - the so called blockade by the US is a joke - so they do need oil. This is regardless of the fact that they have a large reserves (unlike Europe for example) and regardless of the fact that they have fully embraced solar etc. So for energy security they may still need small fry oil fields such as MATD has.

Thanks for the summary. I expect Trump and Kushner and co have profited nicely from the huge fluctuation in oil prices.

It's a shame that sle isn't in a better position (yet) to profit from the straits closure (to western aligned interests).

It's unsurprising that AI churns out sh**. As a generalisation the systems are trained on all availale data in the public domain. So, as just one example, look at the crazies like Trump, Hesgeth, Rubio, Netanyahu etc etc etc and try to imagine the impact - no wonder AI systems hallucinate. Yes the news. I bailed out of stx yesterday because of the Middle East. It's a great company and I will buy back if and when things settle. If I miss out then I miss out, my main aim is to hold onto my money right now. I bailed out of a pile of stocks back in November, a bit prematurely it turns out but happy now. I'm 80-90% in money market funds and uk government debt.

Proquo, yes and the Iranians won't allow the straits to reopen until they get what they want. Trump is blowing his usual hot air about this. Although they do allow Chinese vessels through. Contrary to the main media Iran is winning (albeit at heavy cost). Their aim is to drive the USA out of the Middle East. I also believe Israel is scr*w*d, again contrary to the main media reporting. US/Israel will be pushing for a ceasefire very soon (this week maybe?) as they run out of defensive missiles. Regardless of which side I or anyone else is on this seems to be how it is.

Hamm, yes of course the trades discussion is a side issue, what's important for the long term is what you say !

And of course in order to fulfill a big buy (say) the brokers/MMs need to get the shares from somewhere. They don't usually hold themselves although they can and do. Thus, to obtain these shares from the market they may well drop the price eg triggering stoplosses ! Of course raising the price may also encourage traders to take profits so there's more than one way to skin a cat.

And this why, as some on here have noted, these recent (last few weeks) big trades (whether buys or sells) have not sent the sp hugely up or down ...

The time stamp on a big trade like that is probably irrelevant. Such trades are put through gradually so as not to distort the share price. Once completed yes they have to be reported immediately.
