Read the Reuters report today suggesting Amaya were still in the running here and noticed Morgan (shorting this) had stuck a sell recommendation on my debs lol. Don't think digital will ever fully replace physical newspapers which you can use with vinegar to clean your windows or wrap your fish n chips and antiques in charity shops and they are still a godsend for making up beds for the homeless. Let's hope certificated shares still have a future too but HL charged me an absolute fortune to sell what I remember as being the last of mine in Sainsburys but granny still has her shell and bp certs which I can't wait to get my hands on lol. Talking of the supermarkets, not sure if Aldi and Lidl are spending enough on advertising to make up for the seeming cutbacks being made to the ad budget by the big four - not that I have any sympathy for them given how soulless they have made our town centres over the years just ask Fox about that one. Maybe should have held onto the Lad's as takeover speculation and activity in that sector quite the thing at the moment. I bought these shares and made a good profit on them after some scaremongering by FT Alphaville about old tax news I think. Have been very suspicious of verbal speculation coming from certain sections of the media for some time and remember Alphaville's wild speculation about a very healthy takeover price for Enrc which never materialised. What facts have we here then: at the moment, no rns from the company to say the takeover talks are off, a company spokesperson being quoted elsewhere as seemingly having said the takeover talks were still ongoing and the share price going down hard after the US markets opened yesterday with one lot shorting a company which is in to talks with third parties. There's always some smarties out there milking the cow while others are following the herd. If Hill are going for 888 then the others need to make sure they are keeping up with them. Sun's just out chaps, don't forget the red roses as well as the rugby.

Been a good share for me this one a couple of times recently but, as you say, breaking the 90p is the key. Not sure why as we already know straight from the horse's mouth that those results are not going to disappoint. Already factored in? Hard to say. Last spotted this type of scenario with an Aim's share pres maybe just over a year ago and the share rocketed after the results. Not currently invested here but certainly going to try to shed a few lagers before 26 February good luck.

Well it's been a friendly bb over the years and nobody gave you any hassle lol just a song but well done on your skill of spotting when to buy and when to sell which can be very tricky here. Arguably a lot tougher to successfully invest and trade smaller sums of money than larger ones. Still pondering on whether to invest in a few things for the longer term, shut up shop and look at them at the end of the year Bonz style but then look at Santander. I like to keep a tiny amount for trading rather than investing - see if I can outwit these trader types like sid lol Goodnight x

Just stumbled across the article while doing some research on some of the other shares on the lists some of which I have held in the past. Noticed that cheap was a word used by two of the other posters here today.

That's correct but it did rise in anticipation of the results and peoples circumstances will depend on whether they hold shares for the results or take their profit beforehand in the knowledge that shares can dip on bad results and even good results depending on how the market reacts to them as Zephyrus here has pointed out. Might have been dashed hopes of the introduction of an interim divi as I think one analyst this year speculated that spd might go down that route so it looks like all eyes will be on how the strategic investments elsewhere with the profits are going. Worth pointing out that spd has done very well so far out of its trading of deb's shares and the last time I checked JD were doing very well so just that small .3% option at Tesco causing some consternation at the moment. This retailer didn't issue a Christmas trading statement last year is there anything to stop them issuing one this year.

I dunno roy as I wasn't here last year. Wish I had been here though for a few Christmases rather than at other retailers.
