The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
My price prediction: 3000 Yuan by Christmas lol.
Mornin Damo- grab another coffee and look at those two sites: very very encouraging stats fresh off the first weekend. No bull**** just proper info. Cheers mate.
Cuomo says on stage 4 now. Cinemas will be open in NY state for Tenet I reckon. I posted last night about Canada's first weekend opening - above expectations - Solstice who make Unhinged said rather than 40% down they are seeing 8-10% down across all regions so far. See Hollywood reporter and Deadline.com.
Lots of films new and old already booking since 14th when box offices opened. Full price with classics at 5 dollars. The regal I looked at has Unhinged showing on at least 3 screens with up to 8 screenings per day on each - been taking bookings and money for days.
Telegraph are the worst; seem to have a real downer on Cine at every available opportunity. One of their very recent articles said ( if I remember correctly and its too late to check) that Cineworld was run "from Israel" - no reason to mention that at all and I (although not very PC) thought at the time that it was pretty anti semitic in its inferences. Anyways - bedtime for me - those RNS's at 7am dont read themselves.
Have not seen it myself but OCD type of mental illness I think. They say that the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and over again thinking the outcome will be different.
Cheers RS - this quote says it all from the boss of Solstice, makers of Unhinged:
“What we’re seeing largely everywhere in the world is that slow and steady wins the race. Week after week, you keep seeing that we aren’t dropping 40% rather 8-10% in most markets".
Good reports from Canada opening weekend at both Deadline.com and Hollywood Reporter.
“This is a good solid start,” said Solstice chairman/CEO Mark Gill about Unhinged‘s results in the Great White North. “What we’re seeing largely everywhere in the world is that slow and steady wins the race. Week after week, you keep seeing that we aren’t dropping 40% rather 8-10% in most markets.
I think we may be surprised when USA opens / figures are out - they seem much more up for it than here. Bookings for Regal opened 2 days ago and the one I checked out in Knoxville, Tennessee was taking money for Friday 7.30 pm with Unhinged on ( I think) 6 or 8 screens with multiple showings on each daily.
SpongeBob: Sponge on the Run earned an estimated $900,000 from 300 runs in Canada, where theaters are operating at 50 percent capacity as part of new protocols being implemented because of coronavirus (some cinemas there only allow 50 people total regardless of the size of the auditorium). The animated film won’t play in theaters in the U.S., where it is being sent straight to CBS All Access.
Unhinged grossed an estimated $582,000 from 299 runs for Canadian distributor VVS.
While the grosses for the pair of films weren’t huge, they were still a victory in terms of showing that consumers will go to the movies amid the ongoing pandemic.
"Any way you slice it in my opinion, people did show up and that is a good thing as we have to start somewhere on the road to recovery," says one top executive at a rival studio. He cautions that making judgments about grosses is difficult because there are no comparisons in the age of the "new normal."
Lol - the template for a first post:
I have been reading this board for a few months and I hold quite a lot of shares. Do you think we will go broke tomorrow though ? - I think if we dont go bust any minute we have a bright future unless we go under.
Hi JBS - hope you have had a good weekend mate. We all hold shares, we are all on the same side. We risk our money to enhance our lives and those around us. It will be a good day tomorrow I feel. With all the twists, turns, unbelievable ups and downs we have had for months I really feel, above all else, that Jangho involvement will be transformative both short and long term to this company. Cheers mate and goodnight from me - sick of reading back my own posts!
Hi JBS - I reckon that whilst IAG, JDW, WHIT, to name a few are / have shored up balance sheets with RIs etc it is pretty unusual for someone to buy 4.49% (or whatever it was) of a company who's low price is widely regarded to be caused by imminent collapse.
arrive in force tomorrow as usual, and just FYI......AMC went up last week from 4.45 to 5.54 ; about 20%. As previously posted; their price has gone up % wise much more than ours when compared pre covid to now. AMC short positions total 16%. We are well overdue another large rise in my opinion.
Personally I think with the Footsie losing about 3% over two days, and the Dow widely predicted to trade sideways until the new stimulus deal is agreed, and the fact that the company specific Chinese investment news landed on the two market drop days ( not to mention USA box office opened on 14th, Tenet etc etc) we will rise Monday with the rest of the markets, and as usual exaggerate the swing.
Really satisfying to see the dollars start rolling in - did a dummy buy for Unhinged this Friday at 7.30 - $25 for two tickets @ Regal, Parkside drive, Knoxville, Tennessee (chosen at random). Quite a few sold when I checked yesterday evening.
the results were delayed because prior to the Jangho public announcements they had had discussions with Mooky and co and jointly agreed a way forward - maybe, by the results day, Jangho might be 2nd major shareholder after Global and promise further backing/involvement/investment going forward. We all know the Wanda AMC connection and that many Chinese companies are just/also gateways for state investment in the west. Maybe.
Get your JBS/Sino Leeds plaza IPO sorted mate, while they are in the mood.
I would say because markets are on a downswing - footsie 3.5% down just yesterday and today. Just be patient.
Cheers J, forgot that one mate! Honestly - all that time talking bolox they could have made some money on this.
HI JBS - the only way is up now mate - confirmed. Whatever the day to day swings and manipulation. I chucked the last 10 grand in this morning.
