Hi all - at the moment the window changes are just AMC and Universal and , I think, only in USA cinemas. We are not AMC who have been linked, properly linked, to possibly going under and may be easier to 'bully' - we have not; accept by some on here. I doubt Mooky will roll over so easily. Also for a pretty well rounded and in depth view of this have a look at Hollywood Reporter and Variety - it seems only small budget stuff will be impacted by this and also other caveats - its nowhere near as cut and dried as 17 days - more like a safety net for Universal to use if and when the vastly more profitable cinema route is not available - and in that scenario cinemas will be given 10% as 'compensation'. Cheers.
Just been on to Cine re details for buying a pass 'over the counter' as I didnt know if it was possible or just online. Sheffield, my local one is, will do on 31st for me and they take the digital photo etc so I get the pass there and then. I asked when listings go live and he said possibly today or tomorrow morning and that each cinema posts their own details, rather than, as I assumed, it was done simultaneously from 'head office'. Sorry if you all knew this already.
Check out Picturehouse listings - old and new: I fancy 'The Shining' - saw it when it came out; big screen suits it - Aug 1st. Netflix cant compete with the real thing - watch their subscribers drop again when people get the choice back. Go out and live or just watch others do it while you sit in your bedrooms.
Multilingual millionaires......this time next year Rodders lol. Night all.
RS - continuing the french theme was gonna say " the Canards are lining up" but canard has another meaning which might be of interest to Indepth "A canard is an idea or a piece of information that is false, especially one that is spread deliberately in order to harm someone or their work." lol. Learning all the time.....
I always use " that flat bit at the top" - far easier than attempting French.
USA virus: just read Bloomberg and cnbc news; both carry headlines, and further details, which back up the 'good news' - particularly in the three worst states.
I would guess that amc and cineplex are down 3% because 'we' have it first - the change is better for rest of world but they wont like the change of plan, why would they.
Lets hope they dont push back Michael Ball & Alfie Boe to fit Mulan in - got used to the idea of seeing those two great singers together on the big screen now.....
Hi RS - yeah, what can be put back can also be brought forward.
Hi Sum - lot more detail in Hollywood Reporter if you are interested.
70 countries, not territories. About fkn time. Brilliant!
in 70 territories (I think) followed by selected US cities on 3rd Sept (labour day weekend?) - official - see hollywood reporter now. Cheers.
Cineworld Sheffield - my local - website seems to be slowly awakening; no great detail but check yours out - different to usual/yesterday. I was told, and posted it this morning, that film details would be up tomorrow afternoon and also bookable. Warner should also be updating the new way of distribution re tenet v soon - they said " over the coming days" a week ago.
Lots of things we knew last week might not still be correct this week - fluid situation as we know. My point being that it is 'still' confirmed. Cheers.
the 100% I referred to was the date -ie yes we will open in England on that date. Not the percentage of cinemas.
Just this second spoke to Cine re buying a pass - but to try to get absolute confirmation of 31st. 100% open in England on that date (the guy asked me where I live) - I asked what would be shown from the 31st and he said full details inc booking will be on sites "tomorrow afternoon". I should have asked him for details on the phone, like is Unhinged or Proxima or ??? on but stupidly didnt sorry. 020 8987 5000 in case someone wants verification or to glean film specifics. Cheers.
Agreed: the banner headline 'Australia suffers record deaths in on day' - the details reveal 490,000 tested, 4500 positive, 10 deaths in the country with 7 being from one care home cluster.
Cinema tickets sales in Spain have risen 37% in last 6 years - this trend, however, transcends just Spain ,with 2019 EU cinema ticket sales, as a whole, seeing the highest figure since 2004. And this bloody governments knee jerk sledgehammer response to local northern Spanish lockdowns is to immediately quarantine everyone returning from the whole of Spain - Canaries included although 1,500 miles away (I think) from 'lockdown' areas. Our Transport Minister Shapps, currently on holiday there, included - you couldnt make it up. Sorry for going off on a tangent/rant - my gist is that cinema is crucial to the global movie gravy train and will endure. Also good to see USA deaths seemingly dropping which I think/hope will intensify this week. Anyway, good luck all.
Check out Worldometers tomorrow morning when full numbers in: nearly all states counted now and it looks like a drastic drop in deaths countrywide - I know it drops over the weekend but this is a usual day as you will see on the chart. Looking like 850/900 as opposed to 1150+ or more for past three days. Who would have thought that people dying in Idaho would impact an investment based on an enjoyable family trip to see a film in Chesterfield.......What a day. Night all.
