I dont think it will have any effect - as you say with your examples- and possibly more so with MAB, JDW, WHIT etc as examples of hospitality now open. I reckon ongoing furlough has a lot to do with it; mentally the country is still almost locked down. Its gonna take a while , re formed habits must be re formed again. They scared us in now must shoe horn us out into the light.
What about this as a scenario: Norges sold yesterday 23rd as stated; circa 12, 500,000 shares - shares had to be churned into market unusually quickly hence todays drop, and high volume of 40mill ish shares inc the norges 12.5 mill. Doesnt really stand up as norges have gone up a mill, down a mill, quite recently with no pos or neg effects at that time - but maybe now, due to news, the shares were hot potatoes and had to be dumped quickly. Fck knows. All I know is this was a dodgy day: too much of a drop to be explained by the every buyer has a seller theory - and if anyone thinks devious manipulation doesnt happen with these amounts at stake is very naive. 14% - no way. Time will tell.
Hi Mark/M00La - I quoted the 1% on e quick look; was waiting on the stock exchange site for one to come as convinced this wasnt a 'normal' day. I read it as roughly that % sold due to ' voting rights attached to shares' (norges chop and change - see recent RNSs) but I have no understanding of financial instruments wording, and , lower down, area where it says 4.25% on loan.......Would love a definitive un biased either way explanation of what it all means. Loaned to me means shorting/ hedging of some kind but never understood the finer points.
Hi Sum; very low volume over there (tens of thousands usually) - never bears any correlation to 'us'. Cheers.
I have, both on there too. Gd weekend mate.
Hi JBS - still shocked, to be honest, seriously. Still holding and have put a kidney on the dark web to raise funds to average down.
BB wise: Investroid sold and it was a free for all with M00La and RS2002 trying to stem the tide of de rampers - I was a bit like the battle scene in Zulu, filmwise. You were better off on site mate , whole day was brutal.
Went down relentlessly all day with no real bounces or fluctuations throughout. Much more than bad news warranted or anyone expected. Plex and AMC untouched. RNS of 1% reduction by NorgesBank end of day but that has happened before with no impact.
Totally agree; days like today stick in my throat though. Anyways - bought during pandemic to sell post pandemic. Still in pandemic. I can wait it out, however long it takes. Enjoy the weekend.
I think the news has changed tack to be more shocking; cases/infections rather than 'tested positive' which is a totally different thing in reality, effects wise. I only look at death rate these days; USA as of this morning equates to about half of Uk total if I remember correctly.
Hi RS - keep thinking that myself, esp now. Was expecting a worse RNS today to be honest. I do not believe this magnitude of drop today was that much to do with latest news as other exhibitors didnt suffer. Should have bought some shares on the Nigerian exchange - less corruption I would guess. Keep up the good work mate; more patience/knowledge than me.
Holder decreasing; look through the RNS list - they have gone up / down before.
Norges Bank sold 1%.
LONDON (Reuters) - British retail sales grew more strongly than expected in June and returned almost to their pre-lockdown level as non-essential stores in England reopened to the public in the middle of the month.
France, Germany etc etc open for ages now - remove mask when seated; safer than any Weatherspoons etc as previously pointed out - I will be back in Cinemas and buy a yearly pass asap. I bet there are some very heated calls going to studios from exhibitors worldwide reminding them where their bread is buttered.
Imagine a dystopian future: no shops, no cinemas, no restaurants, no pubs, no contact - just sitting in our boxes with a flat tv on the wall spouting 'content' and directing our anger at other states - Orwell was a depressing bastard but......Honestly, at 61, if thats the future then I will opt out. Night all
Disney - fckin Mickey Mouse organisation if you ask me.
Mulan 'unset' by Disney. So we got through our outbreak with the highest toll in the world; still far more than USA pro rata - now we are at the mercy of them due to factors beyond our control as usual. Hopefully the tilt from usa tech will continue and will go back to, more sensible, re opening plays. Some signs of that already on usa markets by sector. Will this sh it never end - yes it will but its soul destroying eh......Anyways.......
Book 2 seats for investroid depending on whether 'in investroid' or 'out investroid' turns up; or both lol. Off now mate, chin up.
When this finally goes up to its deserved price I will book Sheffield Cine VIP for us lot: Life of Brian so we can all whistle along with 'Always look on the brightside of life' and laugh at the bit where Indepths mum says 'hes not the Messia, hes a very naughty boy'.
The darkest hour is just before dawn. Ironically, I googled 'The darkest hour' to complete the quote and a fckin film came up about Churchill (cost 30 to make and took 150 at box office) Your quote also sums it up 'Ffs'.
