Looking at the timing of 'our' vaccine announcement, both the Dow, and AMC bounced straight away. Maybe a coincidence but I doubt it - seems we only follow the Dow when the trajectory is down.
Over the weekend I posted some figures: Added the Euro countries death rates for Friday (UK was by far the worst at 40) and the total was 152 - couldnt be bothered adding the individual populations so took the EU pop figure as an approximation : 446,000,000....... 152 out of 446,000,000. (figures seem crazy but try it yourself) Just got to wait for the USA to sort itself out.........
only bums on seats will move this up; out of the Cineplex deal, vaccine news, countries opening up - all mostly ignored. CCL, IAG,MAB etc all in the same position. I wouldnt have predicted this, to this extent, but still holding nevertheless and can wait it out - if this is a marathon we must be on mile 14 I would think. With the obvious caveat bwtfdik.
FYI - Apparently there is a guy who was an early stage Guinea Pig on this trial is on Channel 4 news this evening/tonight and, again apparently, he has the correct antibodies as hoped for. Possibly the interview was embargoed until after the Lancet news.
Totally agree with every word mate. Wish those yanks would just suck it up and die like we did with a stiff upper lip and let the few survivors go to see Tenet asap lol. Up bright and early for RNS at 7am - you never know when Mooky might open his wallet......
Hi Hindy; that will be a shame if it happens. Unhinged opened in Germany this weekend and will open as planned here with USA when possible; I know its a totally different level film but it was always meant as the canary in the coal mine and will ease people back to the concept of cinema post lockdown. If Cine opens (as Odeon have) with a decent range of old and new at least its a huge step in the right direction and will help stop the 'rot'. Asia news (Hollywood Reporter) is very good with very good attendance, Imax had its second best opening weekend ever over there - see the reporter site for details. All small steps in the overall picture but necessary I think. Night mate.
Hi RS - agreed. Couldnt believe anyone wouldnt see straight through that passive/aggressive crap - 'invested heavily but it might go broke any minute'. Is it narcissism or what with these people who believe they can 'cunningly' sow seeds of doubt and us idiots will not see the agenda. Doubly so when they believe they can influence share prices with their words on a two bit discussion board.
Tears in my eyes remembering it too - cheers Nardniles. Night mate.
All those things mate : I am 61. Funniest thing I ever did was walking in the dark back to my seat after a toilet break; I was conscious that at the end of each row there was a large ish brass globe denoting end of row: one eye on the screen and the other guiding me with peripheral vision I put my hand on what I thought was the brass globe shape and turned into my row - my hand was on a bald guys head which I turned 45 degrees to the left as I squeezed past him.........maybe you had to be there lol.
I hope Nolans reading this with a tear in his eye and gets on the phone to tell Warner Bros to get their bloody finger out....it would have been cheaper if we had clubbed together with AMC/Plex/Mark/Wanda etc and bought Tenet ourselves. Mookyvision presents: Tenet 2 maybe. See you all Monday.
Mine was 'Chitty chitty bang bang' sometime in the 60s - my dad took me and died soon after of a brain tumour: it was in the West End and I think the ticket and ice cream prices had a lot to do with it. Sad but true.
Damo - put original Blade Runner on your list too mate - some films were MADE for the big screen. Cheers.
Yeah - for me it was 'Alien'.......deafening Dolby...the word ALIEN forming on the screen....then the huge film on the huge screen: burnt into my mind. I have got Netfix via my son - I spend more time looking for something to watch than actually watching the 'content'. Night crumps - slight drizzle in Beauchief but nice overall. Enjoy your weekend.
My figures seemed staggeringly low so just checked them and they stand up. Transferred to USA population when/if they hit the same situation as Europe would/will equate to 104 total deaths daily for the whole country.
Hi all; reading every post as usual - thanks from me too. All are fixated on USA for obvious reasons but, as I have said before, Europe is the case to note - we have been through it.....no second wave so far, and its been a while since 'opening' to varying extents. Just went through yesterdays death figures; country by country, focussing on Europe: I added 24 countries and the total is 152. UK, at 40, is by far the worst. Have not got the time to add the 24 countries populations together so I took the EU population figure as a rough guide. EU is the 3rd largest pop after China and India.
Population: 446,000,000 , deaths yesterday 152. I think Oxford news is mostly out there having read long interviews with the lady running the show and Peston etc but it will still give the markets a fillip and is great news. Anyways, numbers quoted are back of a beermat stuff but pretty spot on. I will stop posting boring sh it when I can go to the cinema instead!
"Interstellar cost a whopping $165 million to make, but it more than quadrupled that figure by the time it was done playing in theaters around the globe. Likewise, the war epic Dunkirk cost a hefty $100 million, but that didn't matter so much in the long run because it earned over $500 million in ticket sales worldwide". Had an up close look at my local cineworld - Sheffield. The companies largest according to the website - huge, nearly 5000 seats with a huge Hollywood Bowl and about 20 nice restaurants (Miller & Carter etc) feeding off it. One of three of the chain to have the VIP brand. Back doors open, contractors vehicles - somethings stirring. To be honest, Tenet is not my cup of tea, but personally cant wait to see 'Unhinged', 'Quiet Place 2' and also watch Interstellar on the big screen as on my 65 inch it was practically begging to burst out. Holding loads as ever and confident despite the rhetoric some spout on here - rarely look in now; Reuters, Bloomberg and Worldometers give me unbiased, current views on the virus and its economic impacts both now and in the future. Lived, and traded, through several crashes - different causes but the same blueprint; capitalism dictates the status quo will return. Anyways - enjoy your weekends everyone, theres much more to life than this forum.
Ive tried it three times; worse at being married than sharedealing. Might switch sides for a wealthy old cinema chain owner though..............
Very astute - the top riser on the footsie 100 today.........I just cant seem to get it right like you.Kudos.
