Sale v production29 Nov 2022 11:04
When you look at the example of Hummingbird it is worth noting that building a mine in Mali did very little for the sp and following a fair start production has been a continual story of failure with the aisc rising from a forecast $850 per oz to over $2000 resulting in losses from production and a collapse in the sp from 40p to 6p. With that in mind a sale may not be a bad outcome for us long termers, albeit not what was hoped for in the early days. My concern is what happens should no suitable bids be forthcoming and also what secret deals might happen behind the scenes (stuffed briefcases/envelopes/positions in the buying company etc) which suit management but not us. Time will tell but I am half expecting to be cucumbered. Anything else to the contrary will be most welcome. Seen it all before on AIM with the likes of Sunkar and Baobab being sold for peanuts(2.5p and 5p respectively, from memory) with some of their respective managements being put on the boards of the buyers etc. All very nice for them and their bank balances but oddly not great at all for all the people they persuaded to buy shares in their companies over the years!!
